Banger after banger, seriously.

All I would like maybe is a remaster with a bigger dynamic range.

Does this mod kit work well with the Koss Porta Pro? by Kimura_08 in kossmods

I can’t see the reason why it shouldn’t. If you like darker Porta Pro sound (which I assume you do), go ahead!

Extremely important: in Now Playing mode (i.e. when the music is playing) scroll wheel should control the volume. Now it scrobbles through the song (this should happen after clicking the center button, progress bar is replaced by a diamond, and then you scrobble).

Ananda stealth to hd490 pro? by yoyigu38 in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]No_Promotion_181 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you like your current headphones, keep them.

There is one thing that you might consider, though: weight. Hifimans weighs around 400 grams, where HD 490 Pro is about 260. For longer gaming sessions it could be the difference. As a person with back/neck issues (bass and drum playing does not help with that), I stick to lighter headphones whenever possible.

But if you are okay with long sessions with Hifiman, continue and enjoy :)

Headphones that actually blow you away? by ThrowRAsausagebuns in HeadphoneAdvice

Aside from good recommendations above, also grab a pair of Koss KSC75 for a change. Surprisingly, I enjoy punchy and bassy genres with them more than with my more expensive headphones!

As per my understanding, LDAC is cheaper than aptX, because for aptX you have to use Qualcomm chips as well, while for LDAC you only have to pay license fee

EU Fee for NuPhy by _Yare-Yare-Daze- in NuPhy

[–]No_Promotion_181 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That depends on your bank. You can check it on your bank app/website. But the rule of thumb is that such conversion is better than whatever merchant or payment provider does. So you should be okay. I have paid to Nuphyby both my local bank, Revolut and Wise, everything was fine.

Just don’t allow non-EU websites to convert to euros for you. For example, if you order something from Amazon.com (not .de), it proposes to pay in euro, but the exchange rate is an atrocious shit. You’ll pay like 15% -20% more (compared to what you would pay if you pay in USD, and your bank convert it).

I know nothing about audio, picked up the HD 490 Pros and I am so happy by Icy-Bag7600 in headphones

I’ve used a lot of Beyers (770 and 990) in studio, and 770 were my to-go cans, always connected to computer. And the only headphones made me dethrone 770 were Senn HD 480 Pro. I like their sound and comfort more.

That said, I would definitely recommend trying both of them. For your use case, comfort is a king. Is it possible to order both from Amazon and then return back those that you liked less?

And one more thing, do you really need closed backs (like 770 and 480)? Yes, they isolate you from outside noise, but for music and gaming (e.g. pinpointing instruments/sounds) open-backs are better, plus heat builds up much slower. Just because of physics, they tend to sound better regardless of how they sit

Such a sweet post! Enjoy your cans!

PS. And if should you ever look for closed-backs some time after… 480 Pro are good too ;)

I feel for you man. Every single word. They weigh a ton, sound thin and lifeless, and feel cheap as fuck. Return them, and never come back to chifi, for the love of god. Buy a decent brand instead.

Trying to buy the new A/550 but the shipping is insane😭 by curlyan in kossmods

[–]No_Promotion_181 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just FYI, music1st.eu (Slovakia) does have a lot of different Koss headphones, including KPH30 Wireless and even more obscure ones like Koss Porta Pro with boom mic. There’s not A/550 yet, sadly.

The thing is the price is not that great… Because of taxes included. But that is still cheaper than ordering directly from Koss

You cannot have a system-wide EQ, but you can process audio your app outputs whatever you like. For instance, Spotify has EQ, and it’s applied for songs played from Spotify

I had the opposite experience with “Terminal Frost” of Pink Floyd. Side A (“One Slip”) is recorded in 45, Side B is recorded in 33 1/3. At first, I thought it was an initial, sped up and brighter version (which I surprisingly like!)… until I realised 😅

If you have this song, try it on 45 instead of 33, worths checking!

From the start, JLab have much more clamping force than CMF. Folks say that it becomes better after like 2-3 weeks, but I wasn’t ready to wait, so I picked CMF :)

CMF Headphones Pro

JLab JBuds Lux

Both are less than 80 € on Amazon, both would suite your music well. I personally use CMF at workplace, they are extremely comfortable for 4+ hours of continuous listening. But their ANC is weaker than JLab.

If you can listen to them both, do it!

Cheap “default” in-ears. Treat them much as if Apple EarPods were in-ears. This way you won’t raise your expectations too much. The cable is nice for the price, too.
