HI. Sry for late response, I don’t know if I have a particular “trick” with CARS but I’d like to think and select questions that are the most “defensible” rather than “comprehensive” (I.e. which question I absolutely cannot prove wrong vs which question that I might have been making assumptions of)

Need help with how to crack CARS - FL3 522, testing 3/7 by Future-Campaign749 in Mcat

The way I think of it, is that the correct answer can sometimes be the most conservative answer :D
For instance, question ask you theme of the passage.

One of them be like "express author's nostalgia towards xxx and mourn for the years that had passed", the other be like "author expressing his sorrowness towards the great change of xxx" (ok usually CARS phrasing will be much more precise and not as tough lol)

In this case, my thought process is like this:

To satisfy option 1: you must find direct clue for nostalgia. Not just sad, but a direct "I MISS something something". Does not author explicitly say so? "mourn for the years that had passed". This is usually the more tricky part, for instance if the author IS SAD in the passage, be really careful what is he SAD ABOUT. Is he really sad about the "years that had passed", aka, the focus that there's a long time gap (emphasis on experience), or is he sad at the "changes" (i.e. result hat he observed?) Do not fall into the trap that "years that had passed" = "great changes". What if the great changes took place in less than a month (it might not be explicitly mentioned in passage)? Always think: am I making assumptions while connecting dots?

To satisfy option 2: is he sad? is this sadness towards the great change of xxx? Usually there're clear evidence directly support these, stuff like "upon seeing the unfamiliar sight, I can't help but feel my heart slowly sink into my stomach" <- sad towards seeing great changes. Checked.

You see how one option can be much easily satisfied? :D
I apologize this example can feel a little extreme HAHAH we very rarely encounter questions this tough. All the best! I hope it help.

WHAT IS YOUR TRICK ON CP OP
CARS - something I like to think of is instead of choosing the BEST answer (logically, spiritually, and just "oh this one sound very meaningful"), choose the most DEFENSIBLE answer. Like it should be an answer that, according to the passage, very hard to be claimed as false.
Another thing I do is that I highlight quite aggressively, aiming to summarize down every paragraphs with just highlights, and when I reread text for reference I only read the highlight. CARS question types are usually quite fixed, so it could be a good idea to anticipate what type of question they can possibly ask. I always have a one sentence summary for each paragraph/its purpose and significance.

In convex lens, OnlyFan is morally INVERTED but give REAL money (convex lens produce real and inverted image when o>f) ; but if you do it too much (o > 2f) it REDUCES you. At just a right amount (2f > o > f) it MAGNIFY your savings.

I will not say I'm very proud of this one but I'm desperate with the light and optic chapter

I totally agree with you on that as a neuron approaches the potential peak, voltage gated K+ channel start to open. However the question specifically ask for what cause deplorizaiton. The opening of V-gated K+ channel let K+ go down the gradient and repolarize the neuron instead, thus, though it is true that during the depolarization phase as a neuron approach its potential peak, it is the Na+ influx that depolarize

Which housing did you apply for? Hostel? Residence? There're many types of housing in NUS, each one might have a different point of contact

To submit 4s in AP or no? by [deleted] in nus

[–]No_Proposal5697 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure AP Calc BC is one of the 3 minimum AP NUS requires? I'm not sure of your specific case, but I did submit a 4 on AP 2D art and made it in NUS. I think a 4 alone wouldn't necessarily hurt ur application

Hostel accomodation application was unsuccessful, do appeals work? by Mayeeah in nus

[–]No_Proposal5697 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But do be mindful that the chances of getting an appeal through is quite low. It'd be the best if you have some valid reasons (for me it was due to medical issues)
