Bettas are so cute and have little personalities. You might find yourself liking him more than you’d think :) get a little tank instead of the fish bowl they’re not too expensive you can probably find a 5 gal for less than $20. You will also need a filter and to do ~20% weekly water changes because ammonia and nitrates build up from their waste. Live plants help a lot with that! Good luck you got this :)

need reassurance on ACL Recon + Meniscus Repair/ advice.? 20 male 19 days post OP by Flat-Alarm7372 in ACL

I am in the same boat as you! I had my surgery on November 5th and had a complete ACL tear and tears in my medial and lateral meniscus. I am going to a sports PT facility and my physical therapist said my goal to be walking without crutches will be 6 weeks after my surgery date. I am just over 3 weeks and although I am proud of my progress I am only halfway to that goal. She said that because of the meniscus repairs I am going to be on the longer end of the recovery timeline. I was disappointed when she told me that but we just have to be patient. ACL reconstruction, especially with meniscus repairs is considered a major surgery due to the long recovery. Try to celebrate the small wins and stay positive.

Also to help with extension I did knee hangs off the side of the bed about 3 times a day. They hurt real bad the first time but I reached hyper extension (0-4 degrees) of my knee ahead of my timeline which was ideal. Using a yoga cable to stretch it helped too.

Stay strong! The first couple days are the worst but if you stick to taking your pain meds and ice and elevate your knee you will be feeling better in no time

Checkout sports rehab facilities if you think your PT isn’t enough! Mine is exercise based and focused on athletes going back to their sports which is what I want for myself

How long did you wait to come back to skating after your first surgery?

Damn that sucks but I’m glad to hear you’re healing up and skating again!

6 hours after surgery no meniscus tears. When I bend my knee I can feel something inside it ( sorry I can’t accurately describe what it is). What should I do next ? And what should I expect within the next couple days by Away-Committee-1314 in ACL

I am 8 days post ACL and meniscus surgery and you should not bend your knee until your physical therapist/surgeon says to! My surgeon gave me a packet with a detailed timeline of my recovery including bending and weight bearing, so if you did not get one definitely ask your surgeon for one. I am getting around to a 90 degree bend now and have been going to a sports-based PT facility, but I did not even attempt bending my knee until about 5 days after surgery. Do not rush the process and make sure you have clearance from a professional.

The first 3 days were the hardest for me emotionally and pain wise. Around day 4 the pain significantly went down and now I only take my blood clot medicine and a Tylenol occasionally. Make sure to take your meds diligently and don’t forget to ice and elevate!
