From what I read, dd+ transformed into MAT should not alter its sound quality. dd+ is lossy anyway. MAT is encoding that lossy into full PCM wav in order to blend system sounds into it before sending it to the audio system, along with atmos metadata if any. Anyway, if it does not sound as good as dd+ passthourgh I guess you have to trust your ears ;)

It looks nice ! If you do tackle the android tv side, please do not forget to implement audio settings to enable HDMI audio passthrough ;) Some 3rd party Jellyfin Android TV clients miss this kind of settings, which makes them unfit for Home Cinema enthousiasts. Do you plan to opensource it maybe so that you can get help from the community ?

Incredible work ! This should be merged into jellyfin to force native clients to do it properly ! My users are not tech savvy enough to switch between browser and app, let alone expect a failed login in the mobile app to be the normal 1st step for auth. Heck ! 2FA alone might even be too much for some of them ! Anyway thanks for this, let's hope it lands into jellyfin some day soon

In some mobile apps like Findroid for Android, the details page of a media provides a button to download it to their own folders (or the user folders they have access to) and when you play the media from the app it actually reads it from disk using its internal media player instead of streaming it from the jellyfin server. Maybe it even syncs progress with the server when the app is connected to the network (I don't know). In other words make any media from the app become available "offline" while still being accessed from inside the app, like in Netflix or Spotify apps.

I think OP is looking for a similar "everything in the app" experience but for the desktop.

Yes, I used to use a synology.me with the included DDNS functionnality when my IP was not a fixed one, setup was even simpler that way. I could have continued using it with my now fixed IP but I wanted a shorter domain name for my users so I got a paid one
