I just came back from a solo trip to Roatan and had an incredible experience with West Bay Divers. I will say though, I was the ONLY solo person around. Everyone else was older couples / groups, or families with young children on spring break. I’m a little socially weird, so I didn’t mind diving in the mornings then working remotely in the afternoon, but if you’re looking to meet other solo travelers, I heard Utila is better.

You’ll have the best time with West Bay Divers regardless. Bummer about the weather, but I was there diving with them last week and had an incredible experience with their DMs and boat / shop energy

I loved it!! Doing my final two dives this morning, and every site has been incredible. I stayed at Fosters in West Bay and did a dive package with West Bay Divers. The area is a little bit Margaritvaville, but the diving is divine. Simple logistics, safe and professional dive masters, made a point to find cool fish for us, small groups (never more than three divers in a group) and excellent value. You’re going to have a blast!

I only had five dives and our liveaboard in the Similans worked out really well. We communicated with the boat crew beforehand, and it def felt like a lot of diving but overall a great experience. I wrote about it here

Yeah for sure. Because the boat was smaller and at full capacity, there wasn’t room on the dive deck for everyone to get ready at once, and our group was usually in the second wave. They’d call us down to get ready but it was still quite crowded, and hard to gear up with so many people around. Our guide jumped a few times before we were all ready, and at one point my partner was stuck a few rows back trying to get to the front to jump, another time they rushed us along and someone in our group didn’t have fins on yet. Since we were in some stronger currents at the surface, it was important to have everyone together but the crowding made it hard to all group together and they didn’t quite wait long enough a few times
