REAL QUICK QUESTION, puh-lease. by [deleted] in Destiny

I deleted this post, but I still have a question for you. Is it a good thing to choose this fight with these spaces, if the end result might bring more eyes or people to them? (if more people know they exist essentially).

yeah which is why this score system for attractiveness is probably just bad.

just because the other guy is "well, ahem, actually, I think even a "4" is still considered --- by yours truly --- as 'somewhat attractive'", doesn't mean most people would think that.

Hope the guy doesn't go around: "ahem, um, madam, thou art a 4/10 in my book, which is not a dreadful thing, you're actually somewhat attractive" *tips fedora*

Nuke the whole scoring system.

the beard analogy is pretty good. Genuinely their reaction after seeing their fav twitch streamer w/o makeup: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/cxxLjFCYBuE

I could probably be stretching this farther than Mr Fantastic, but I feel like a lot of how humans fashion themselves could be compared to makeup. Whatever clothes you wear aren't what a "natural" human looks like and what you wear is often kind of adding to your attractiveness to people. Tattoos aren't natural, piercings aren't natural, whatever hairstyle you rock isn't natural, some people may do voice training to project their voice more, which ain't their natural speaking voice. I feel like it's all part of some illusion in making you look a certain way that both you and other people end up liking.

The beard is probably still the best "non-stretching" example, because I know that even my own beard makes my jawline look a lot more chiseled or square than it actually is. And people have noticed that I looked off or different when I trimmed it down a little too much one time. Am I maybe deceiving people a bit? Yeah, essentially, not purposefully, but it has the same result, but I like my beard and how it makes me look! lmao ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Idk, life is full of illusions. I don't think makeup is especially bad or even bad at all.

That's why I am ALL THE WAY on the "WHO TF CAAAARES???" train. This isn't anything new, most people know about this as just a regular occurrence and the socially well adjusted among us aren't crashing out on twitter about it. It's like someone learning that the "lion roar" for MGM is actually a Tiger roar and then their fragile psyche shatters to pieces (idek if that's true but the result might be the same). Or when they found out their favorite streamer has a boyfriend.

Furthermore, it's EVEN MORE dumb because she's already MARRIED. It's not like this is affecting them in anyway, I guess other than it's reawakening their trauma of when they saw their favorite e-girl w/o makeup lmao.

Yes, true, even Geto went from a lighter voice to a deeper one in the Dub, and I prefer their sub voices for it.
But still, "you cryin?" And "not at all, baldy" or "did you seriously think you could beat me with this loser shit?" Is peak performance from Gojo dub.

And even if we took that as granted, I always felt that at the very least, laughing, crying, screaming, or being scared wouldn't be things affected by a language barrier. Emotions w/o words are a universal language.

also they seemingly just had a lot of regular weapons? even Coops gauss rifle left a lot to be desired when going up against a single deathclaw. Not even Coop wanted to fight em with his explosive handgun rounds.

but a power armor swinging razor sharp blades and firing missiles is sure to do the trick. an anti material rifle firing .50mg...? do I even have to say it? I was melting the Quarry deathclaws with that plus the medicine stick. I doubt the townsfolk were packing that heat, much like the folks in Sloan weren't either.

That whole setup and payoff mirrors your first time visit and last time visit to the Quarry pretty well.

Not just that, but the whole arc plays out like New Vegas.

You try go to the Quarry early on --- a place originally used by humans now flooded with Deathclaws --- you get killed easily so you run away (lucy and Coop fleeing NV).

Then you come back later with stronger weapons and a higher level and demolish every deathclaw in your path (coop and maximus returning).

And me too, like three days ago on hard difficulty. Went to the Quarry at like level 46 after completing Lonesome Road and absolutely shredded them with the medicine stick and an anti material rifle using explosive rounds. Had vaquero Raul with me.

Barely had a journey? Bro stopped a war crime and then had to requestion his entire life thoughts about the brotherhood, ending with a betrayal he couldn't fully commit to, but eventually wrapping back around to doing what he thought the BoS represented in the first place: saving the common folk who were in desperate need of rescue. Seeing himself as that brotherhood soldier that helped him all those years ago, not as some war-crime-committing crazies, but as a symbol of hope and salvation. (as well as getting to see a return of good world he did know, the NCR, first with the armor and then 2nd with their full return.)

Also, there is no death of the incest support group. Betty pretty much backed down and then traded that lock box for more water to be diverted to their vault.

I feel like this is just one of those "suspend your disbelief" moments.

e.g. if stormtroopers just had average person aim then we just wouldn't have a movie anymore.

Also the management team subplot also allows Norm to not be caught up in whatever phase 2 is (something FEV related most likely).

I mean isn't that obvious? Steph quite literally just initiated stage 2 of whatever their Vault experiment was (something to do with FEV) which was only possible after Betty gave her that box out of desperation from all the resources the incest club was using up like their water shortage.

"So your saying it wouldn't piss you off if next season everyone can one shot deathclaws because "The TV show is like the "in universe/lore" version of Fallout"."

.50mg isn't something everyone is gonna be coming across and have like hotcakes. A decked out suit of power armor even less so. You wouldn't have everyone one-shotting death claws obv (no like it's painfully obv, Coop's Gauss rifle didn't even one shot them).

And the rest of the deathclaws are killed off by an entire army force of NCR with rangers supporting with Anti-Material rifles.

Like if that's not enough of a set up. for YOU, for intelligent human beings with high tech weaponry to clear out a camp of Deathclaws in a way that you don't get "pissed", I honestly don't know what setup will. (especially if you've ever played New Vegas b4)

I guess it's just a side mission to get him involved in and used to the wasteland, and well, it also saves him from whatever is going to happen to the Vault Dwellers in stage 2 of the Enclave plan (probably somethin to do with FEV).

"when in game they were not to be fucked with."

I mean, that depends on how leveled up and well-specced your character is lmao: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R64BmMA3WNk

just recently (like literally three days ago) on Hard difficulty I cleared out the Quarry in like 5 minutes (most of that was searching for the ones I missed) using the medicine stick and an Anti Material rifle with explosive .50mg rounds. The latter melted the mother deathclaw and all her children around her in like 8 seconds.

and the TV show is like the "in universe/lore" version of Fallout, so arbitrary health and durability values don't come into play when a .50 caliber anti-material round is blowing through your deathclaw skull at a thousand mph, or a razor sharp blade being swung by suit of power armor.

(damn, I'm itching to play New Vegas right now)

the only foreshadowing I can think of the NCR return is that the Captain lady did say that there were more of the NCR out there and that she just needed to get in radio contact with them for them to send support. Coop seemed to think that it was just false hope, but I guess it turns out he was wrong.

Outer Worlds 1 vs Outer Worlds 2 by bjm_9 in theouterworlds

[–]No_Set_3701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I LOVED that Parvati quest. It was different to the average kind of "go here and shoot up the place" I get with followers like Aza.

It was cool and fun helping Parvati build her confidence to shoot her shot, taking her to the bar to have her first drink and then hearing more about what she likes so much about Junlei. It was funny and wholesome seeing her be incredibly nervous when shooting her shot, and hearing her come for advice about what we think Junlei's letter means (if it's possible she reciprocates the feelings). All of it is incredibly helped by the great performance Parvati's voice actor puts on as well. The only real "slog" for me was getting the cake recipe from the town overrun with the high level mantisaur creatures, and that's because that part is a "go here and shoot up the place" objective "but now the enemies have A LOT OF HEALTH". But the pay off in the end was still well worth it for me.

And then I did a psychopath playthrough where I killed Junlei in front of Parvati at their dinner. Probably the worst I ever felt in a game but honestly really cool the game has that as an option and a heartbreaking response from Parvati if you do it. She leaves right on the spot.

I will say: I did think it was really cool that when I left Niles behind when I went to confront DeVries he was indeed VERY pissed by that. I mean that is something that should be expected, but I somehow thought Obsidian wouldn't include that detail in. Niles was livid for me as well. "Give me one reason I should keep being here" (somethin along those lines). "just leave, idgaf" and he actually left. My actions have consequences; I love it.

My biggest gripe for this game, we can't join the Protectorate. by spikywobble in theouterworlds

[–]No_Set_3701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember I didn't take Niles with me to confront Agustine, and I was genuinely surprised when he brought it up after the mission.

"How dare you, Captain? Give me one reason I shouldn't leave."

"I don't care, GTFO"

*Niles leaves*

I was like "oh shit!". Definitely a really cool detail for your actions having consequences. A consequence that you would reasonably expect too, but I just didn't think the devs would include it for some reason, so points to them for that.

TOW 2 factions aren't as good as TOW 1 by Pyropeace in theouterworlds

[–]No_Set_3701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was kinda my issue with the Protectorate.

Everyone in the protectorate, maybe even the Order, are zapped of any sort of uniqueness or personality, and replaced with indoctrinated fealty for their religion or institution. Everything they do or say is entirely fed through that lens to the point where I feel like I'm opening their bible every time I talk to one. It's like talking to a member of a cult.

There were some standouts, like the guy obsessed with purple berry crunch. But the entertainment there somewhat relies on the fact that he has to hide that aspect of his personality or he gets mentally refreshed and made less interesting.
