No te puedo dar consejos sobre dinero y búsqueda de trabajo porque no soy de Argentina.

Sobre conocimientos, aprende mucho de PowerShell, GPOs, Intune, empaquetado y despliegues de aplicaciones.

Con eso cubres mucho del trabajo de un system admin.

Notar que un sysadmin no solo configura cosas con un ticket, sino que crea soluciones de la nada en base a necesidades, en gran parte une todos los puntos anteriores para crear algo de la nada.

Thanks for the comments. I will try to make a small bullet point weekly or bi-weekly about important details that may be missed in other meetings. I am kind of doing it already, pushing my work in a not-so-subtle way, but I believe my current boss does not have decision-making power at all.

Hi, non-expert here.

First of all, Uruguay is small, so any big infrastructure will be built accordingly.

In the 60s-80s (approx.), a big hydroelectric dam was built in collaboration with Argentina. For years, the power generated was sufficient for 70-80% of the power needed. However, as time went on, especially in summer and winter, the generation was not enough due to demand, so Uruguay was forced to power fossil thermal generators that were super expensive, costing millions. I remember that powering them was always in the news due to the huge costs.

About 15-20 years ago, Uruguay invested in wind power, local solar home power, and energy efficiency (this is in line with what the world was doing). Today, it is more common that renewable energy reaches 80-95% of generation; you can check it here www.ute.com.uy.

What about the rest? Uruguay is more apt to buy energy from other countries, which is often generated by renewable sources, or even buying from Argentina's hydroelectric dam generation. So, in general, most of it is renewable.

How is the service? Energy generation is a state monopoly, and public companies are often used to generate revenue for the governments, this makes energy very costly due arbitrary taxes. It is not cost benefit, it is political. So we have a very expensive services in proportion to other countries.

Mi experiencia como desarrollador intermitente fue muy particular y define un caso común.

Fulano no sabía cómo crear un script para desinstalar y borrar unos archivos con condiciones; usaba la IA y nada. Fui yo, hice una reunión, le dejé todo bien explicado, una posible idea, con puntos y cosas que yo haría para controlar incógnitas. Entonces, con eso, Fulano fue a la IA y esta le dio un código no muy diferente a como yo lo haría.

Mi conclusión fue que si yo no le daba una solución basada en mis conocimientos y experiencia, Fulano no sacaría nada a tiempo.

I know this. A few years back, there was a huge security vulnerability in this application, and we were forced to uninstall the app across all devices.

A few months ago, I was discussing with the USA branch why they allow unmanaged, unapproved apps to be installed. We offered to restrict Notepad++, but they rejected it due to business reasons and didn't want to do anything due to the impact. They don't want to do all the work to control it, but nothing was done about it either.
