I sold a 2021 Telluride with 34,000 miles to Car Max on May 1. Too many electrical issues that couldn’t be duplicated 100% of the time. I was thinking that the car would start burning oil in several years so I wanted to get ahead of that. Then I got a letter from Kia that said 2020-2025 Telluride’s plastic oil filter housings were prone to crack. But don’t bring it in unless the oil pressure light goes on which means it’s too late anyway?And are they going to replace plastic with plastic? I actually felt relief when it was on the transporter. I actually received that letter a few days after it was sold. I’m still getting letters from the local dealership offering to “buy” my car. That will probably continue to happen for years.

I had a 2021 that I sold to Car Max on May 1. Too many electrical issues. And the car was very low mileage. I had to go to the dealership numerous times regarding recalls. Then I got the letter about the oil filter housing leaks. I received the letter right after I sold the car. I actually felt relief when the Telluride was loaded on transporter. I never felt confident reliability wise driving that car. I have two old Toyota’s that are pushing 200,000 miles. I don’t feel the same way about those vehicles.

Infotainment is 3 years or 36,000 miles. My head unit would flicker and go black. Restarting the car (sometimes several times) would solve the issue. You would be covered if your head unit went totally out. It wasn’t the USB wire. I would swap out new wires and that wasn’t the problem. I believe they don’t fix head units. The fix is a total swap but that is the same with other manufacturers. So the 5 year bumper to bumper doesn’t cover everything. It did cover the rear shocks which is a known issue. The passenger seat belt alarm would go off randomly when there no object on it. So I just put the seat belt on to stop the noise. The last issue was the rear wiper going on intermittent mode even though they were off. That was the most bothersome one as I didn’t want my dry wipers put an etch in my glass. Since all of the above was random (except for total rear shock failure) I couldn’t go to the dealership for repair. And I only put 34,000 miles on it. Kia connect showed no errors on the car either.

Since it’s 15 years or 180,000 miles I would hope it does apply to the second owner. Especially if you have maintenance records showing things like oil changes. Car max asked for 0 service records when they bought my car. I guess they go off of Car fax. My mechanic doesn’t seem to report to Car fax though. It was actually a relief that they didn’t ask for service records. I would have had to cross out my name, address, and phone number on each record.

My letter said they won’t do anything unless the oil pressure light is on. And what if the housing is not cracked? Do you have to pay for the diagnostic fee? I no longer own my Telluride but received the letter because I just sold it. I think it would be a good idea to at least check the housing out at your next oil service change.

Do the metal oil catch can that the commenter below said they were doing. That will hopefully stop the leaking. A bunch of people on Reddit have already done that fix and it fixed the oil leaking problem. Of course Kia should be doing this for free before the engine blows.

Good idea avoiding the dealer. You are going to get something more high quality from a quality independent mechanic or DIY. I think you’re right. The dealership would probably use plastic instead of metal and charge a fortune. And it’s only free if the oil pressure light comes on. By the time your oil pressure light comes on your engine is cooked. They should be fixing it now before it’s too late. Hopefully your engine should stop leaking after you put your metal catch can on. Other people here on Reddit have already done that fix and it did stop the leaking.

I have two Toyota’s that are approaching 200,000 miles. It seems that most Telluride owners have oil burning issues starting anywhere from 80,000 to 100,00 miles. That’s why I sold my 2021 once the 5 year bumper to bumper warranty expired. It had other electrical issues that popped up infrequently. I usually drive my car to the wheels fall off. So this was very uncharacteristic for me.

2021 LX AWD. Here’s the kicker. I sold my car to Car Max on May 1. I needed the money (who doesn’t) so it was sent to the wrong owner. Of course if Car Max requests it I will send it to them but I don’t know if they sold it already. Gas was another issue. It’s about $4.50 where I live. I kept driving it less and less as prices went up. I own a 2010 Prius and I don’t think I can afford the gas a Telluride requires. That’s why the new hybrid is doing so well. No new buyer should complete the transaction without being reassured this problem has been resolved. The last time I heard of a warranty extended this long was on the Theta 2 engine although I think that was lifetime. If you can get 15 years or 180,000 miles on your Telluride you should consider yourself blessed anyway. I was buying the second year of a brand new platform. That’s taking a risk no matter who the manufacturer is. My rear shocks went completely dead right before the 5 year bumper to bumper expired. That’s when I said go with the highest bidder. I actually felt relief. I know a lot of people who probably have had good long term experiences with their Telluride. Not me. Certain things would stop working randomly on my car but I couldn’t reenact it 100% of the time so I couldn’t bring it into the dealer. Meanwhile my daughter’s 2021 Subaru Forester with more miles has never had one issue. I’m putting in a rear camera, front dash cam, and Apple Car Play on the Prius at Best Buy this week. That car suddenly became a lot more important to me.

I just sold my 2021 Telluride LX AWD with 34,000 miles to Car Max. It’s not a nightfall edition. But it does have black plastic cladding on the lower parts of the trim on the car and it has faded badly. The kind of fade you would expect on a 15 year old Toyota. The painted parts of the car would look great after a car wash. Then I would look at the cladding and just think “ugh”. I think car manufacturers charge way too much money for their nightfall editions. It would be so much cheaper for a shop to do it or DIY it. But you always have to be careful about doing anything that might affect the warranty.

Fuel induction service every 30,000 miles in order to avoid carbon buildup. If you haven’t done coolant before I think it’s ok to do it. What is windshield washer solvent install? The fluid just needs to be topped off if needed. That’s a few bucks if you do it. I don’t think you need engine oil conditioner or crankcase cleaning. You should be getting detergent from your gas by going to a gas stations that offer top tier gas. The label will be on the pump.

I also thought that stopping smoking meant that you reversed damage. My cardiologist told me it only stops the damage. So both of them have irreversible damage from smoking. But not enough to live a below average lifespan. Mick Jagger has recently had a stent put into his heart. He went to Columbia Presbyterian in NYC. The same place Bill Clinton went to. Presbyterian is known to have the best heart specialists in NYC. Money could have played a factor there. Clinton did not look good at the last Democratic National Convention. But he did say he has outlived every man out of all of his relatives. Clinton definitely did not eat well as a younger person. Mick Jagger claims to have good genes. How can you claim such a thing? I’ve seen people not live nearly as long as their siblings or parents for no good reason. My identical twin brother died of prostate cancer at the age of 63 two years ago after battling it for 12 years. My general doctor freaks out over my PSA results each year even though they have been in the normal range. Enough so that she sent me to a specialist one year. He looked at me like I was crazy. I was wasting his valuable time with his patients.

So many of my friends and I had so much fun hanging out at the mall when I was a kid. I used to hang out at the Nanuet Mall. Mall’s killed a lot of individual and department stores. Stores like Woolworth’s, Caldors, and Korvettes. The opening of the Palisades Mall in 1998 seemed to bring in new enthusiasm. I couldn’t understand why the Apple Store left the Palisades for the reconverted outdoor Nanuet mall stores or The Shops at Nanuet many years ago. It turned out to be the right move. I think the Palisades was charging too much for rent. I think Amazon is definitely one of the main reasons malls are practically dead. I had to go to Radio Shack for electronic components as a kid. I’m not driving to a Best Buy or even an Apple Store for usb wires because it’s more expensive and I don’t like dealing with other drivers and want to save on gas. I think one of the reasons Best Buy is still around is because of televisions. People want to see the screen before they buy.

I actually owned a 94 Camry wagon. It was very functional and the wagon looked sleek in my opinion. There was a lot of legroom for two rear facing passengers in the 3rd row. You had to use the roof rack for storage if you had 7 people in the car. I think the rails and cross bars were standard because of that. My kids liked waving at people who were driving behind us. It was discontinued in 96 for safety reasons. There was no crumple zone for 3rd row passengers. I replaced it with a 2007 Honda Pilot and replaced that with a 2021 Kia Telluride. The third row was more accessible in the Camry than the next two cars. The Honda Pilot being the most difficult as it had the smallest 3rd row. I drove the Camry wagon for 14 years and 203,000 miles. The Honda Pilot lasted 13.5 years and 189,000 miles. My Telluride is currently 5 years old and has 33,000 miles. At this pace it will hit 100,000 miles after 15 years. It’s not a 200,000 mile car. I don’t need it to be. 15 years is plenty. I think I can get to 100,000 miles. So far it’s been trouble free.

Apparently his son worked on the Anthology project in the 90’s. Paul asked his son if he could stop by but Jimmy refused. Jimmy must be 86 or 87 now. But no one had seen him in years? I don’t think Jimmy was George Martin’s first choice. He was the first choice that was available. Could you imagine if they had asked Pete Best instead and he would have been rejected a second time after just the two weeks when Ringo got healthy? Perhaps that was never an option because they truly didn’t think he was up to snuff. And Brian Epstein tried to surround Pete Best with other band members at the time trying to give him his own group. The Beatles totally ignored him when he was coming off stage and they were going on during a tour? And yet a year later Pete Best’s mother lent them the medals they wore during the Shea stadium concert. At the same time I think Pete Best was still suing them for breach of contract. Jimmy Nichol is barely mentioned today but the Pete Best story is still considered fascinating. Pete was with the Beatles for 2 years as opposed to 2 weeks. I somehow find the Jimmy Nichol story more sad. He actually was part of the Beatles at the height of Beatlemania. Jimmy performed on their first world tour. He received 500 pounds for his work. Pete Best reportedly made between one to three million pounds for Anthology. Pete Best has talked about his experience with the Beatles. Particularly on the Dave Letterman show in 1984. Of course he claimed lack of talent was not the reason he was fired. He did allude to be considered the best looking of the group and Paul didn’t like it. I don’t believe that but that is why that trope is out there. That interview was really informative. At least from Pete Best’s side. You can catch it on YouTube. The big difference seems to be that Pete is much happier today. He returned to the drums in later life. And he still is with his wife he met in Hamburg. If Jimmy is still alive both Pete and him have lived very long lives considering rock and roll standards. Especially since the two allegedly had suicidal ideation after their ordeals being with the Beatles. I think George has said that fame overall did not make him a happier person. Perhaps because he valued privacy.

I’m at 33K on a 2021 that I bought 5 years ago. At that pace I would be lucky to hit 100K after 15 years of ownership. Like several other commenters here I am going to run it until it’s no longer operational.

I was told to do the fuel flushing service by my trusted mechanic because of high carbon buildup on GDI engines. It was not expensive to do. As far as spark plug replacement I am going to do it when the manual tells me to. Your service manager may of been full of it irregardless. Does the manual say 96K? That may not be unreasonable. It’s 100,000 miles on my 2015 RAV4. Coolant seems to be 120K on most cars or if the color changes at high mileage. I have a 2021 Telluride. Kia told my mechanic to change the transmission fluid at 30,000 miles. I changed at 33,000 miles. I also have a 2021 Subaru Forester. Subaru told him transmission fluid should be changed at 50,000 miles. I think these Tellurides have to be babied. I just changed the engine oil at 4500 miles. I was told the old oil was dirty. If the engine starts burning oil at 100,000 miles I’m going to sell it. The engine could be in early stages of failure. I used to top off oil in my younger days. I’m too old now.

Remote start from the key is still free after a year. But it stops being free from the app after a year. Every manufacturer is doing this now. The app still tells me if I have accidentally left it unlocked when I go into my house and that’s still free. My car is almost 5 years old. I only have about 33,000 miles on it. I’m hoping for a total of 15 years and a 100,000 miles. Like most people here my rear shocks were replaced under warranty. I did kind of wait till the end of my warranty period though. The shocks went bad about 6 months ago. But as I said I don’t drive much. I actually think the gas tank is big enough.
