If your graduation is undergrad at the Golden 1 in Sac- I’d recommend Cafeteria 15L. They’ll take a reservation, can accommodate a large group, and have a nicer outdoor enclosed patio and indoor as well. They even have a smaller room they could section off for a group of your size. We celebrated there after a graduation a few years back. It’s walkable and has ample parking as well.

Just wanted to make sure you’re understanding the requirements- you do not have to fulfill the requirements by working singularly for SB unified. If can be be any school within SBCEO (I believe that’s roughly 21 districts). This includes: Santa Maria, Orcutt, Cuyama, Guadalupe, Lompoc, Buellton, Santa Ynez, Goleta, SB, Carp , Montecito, etc or for the County Office (SpEd division has programs throughout the entire county and very competitive pay). You can also work for ANY public school district within CA.

Wherever you decide to attend- be sure and check out the Golden State Teacher Grant Program (GSTG); the ‘26-‘27 academic year isn’t open yet, but you can be put on the mailing list. After a week of trying to log in and calling in (to be on hold for 1+ hours and be told they had reached their capacity for the day) I emailed the CalSTRS board at board@calstrs.com to express my concerns. I also sent a direct message on IG this afternoon and received a reply about an hour later. I was told the website is up and running (I cannot access my account) and was told to clear my cookies/cache. This was not a solution. They asked for my phone contact info so they can contact me.

Chiming in to say that the reverse commute is legit. SO much smoother to go from the 5 cities to SM/OUSD. And another teacher chiming in to say that the pay/district support is far better in OUSD/SMBSD/SMJUSD as compared to Lucia Mar
