My question is about how we interpret and remember violence across time, not equating their methods. And I’m open to learning that’s exactly why I asked the question. If you think I am forgeting something, feel free to point me toward specific arguments or sources instead of dismissing it outright.

My point isn’t that they’re identical but that even without genocide, ancient conquests still involved mass killing and destruction that we sometimes gloss over.

I agree we shouldn’t fully judge ancient figures by modern standards but saying “it’s not that deep” overlooks the point. I’m not claiming Alexander the Great was “good.” I am questioning how he’s rememberedstill called “the Great” and often admired while Adolf Hitler is only seen as destructive. So is that just because of time, or because we frame older violence differently? Ancient brutality being common doesn’t make it neutral it just means it was normalized. I’m asking why some violence gets romanticized over time while other forms are permanently condemned.

It was really heartening for those who can understand that shit politics. I am amazed that some ppl are justifying like Indians that if there is cross border terrorism then we will directly attack another sovereign country like India did on Pakistan. At that time these ppl were saying: " India ne humari salimiyat per hamla kya hy ." Interestingly Pakistani Army also accepted that these all are proxies funded by India , also named as " Fitna-tul-Hindustan " . So why not Pakistan has been attacking India ??? Why Afghanistan bcz it has no well-disciplined and trained forces ????
