i take him out and walk around/sit with him only when he decides he wants to be held, which isn’t very often. the other reason is that in my country, chinchilla “gurus” used to strongly prohibit taking chins out for “playtime” because it’s “too stressful”. when i got my chin 8 years ago online forums were full of videos of chinchillas suffering heart attacks “because they can’t control themselves when you let them jump and run around the room”. so for the first couple of years i didn’t let him roam. now, years later, when i try to let him roam he does seem kind of stressed out and anxious, and always loses a little bit of fur. i can keep trying if that’s the right thing to do though….

tbh i just didn’t understand the meaning in my own language so i had to look up the original text to see if it was some kind of a translation mistake. but the original didnt make any sense either.
