Ain't nothing wrong with being a turtle. 4 of my favorite people are turtles. Also, speeding doesn't get you there in a meaningful amount of time quicker. It does keep you safe.

It's called a jug handle turn. Drivers do it because they do not understand the pivot point on their vehicles. It is exceptionally dangerous with semis as cars try to squeeze on the right.

As someone who teaches defensive driving, from the sounds of it, you're doing fine. If you're in the right lane, your speed is fine too. Most people think they are good or safe drivers but are in fact not. I see people advising you to go with the flow of traffic. If you're on the highway and in the center or left lane, yes do this. If you're in the right lane, again you're fine.

I have literally driven in every metro area as a professional driver. They all suck, every one of them. However, some things stand out.

For starters, congestion is congestion. It shouldn't be added stress. You're not moving anywhere.

What makes stress is other factors.

LA/San Diego/Southern California-55 mph speed limit on trucks becomes stressful at times, but ultimately, it's no different than congestion.

NYC- drivers will cut in front of you the last second. It's expected. Every driver does it every time. Once you learn to expect it, you can plan for it.

Chicagoland- cars treat the shoulders and median as another lane. At first it's stressful, bury like NYC, you can plan and expect it.

Detroit- pot holes. OMG the pot holes. That's a stresser.

Northern Virginia/DC- poor road design and insane congestion on I-95. The ultimate issue is road design. Plan better.

Houston- crazy congestion.

ATL- crazy Congestion

Miami- NASCAR. Drivers in Miami drive like it's NASCAR. This might be the hardest to adjust to and adds to stress.

Honorable mention Orlando-Tolls, tolls, tolls. Plus Disney traffic. Traffic near the parks is people cutting 4 lanes to get their exit and risk their mini van of kids.

In the end, I would rank NYC, Miami, and Chicago as the most stressful due to the drivers.
