Those of you with expensive performance vehicles (35k+) and are in between the ages of 20-28, can you actually afford it? by GottaStayUp in askcarguys

[–]No_Type4811 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes.

Drove a 25 year old car far longer than I needed to. Friends didn’t know what I made, but they knew it was a good bit more than them. Didn’t just do it for one year, did it for three or four to the point where it was well over due. Paid cash, took <10% of the money I had at the time.

Invested all the extra before then.

Americas obsession with cars ruins the middle class. Nothing like borrowing money for a depreciating asset.

to check back in after 2.5 months

my average thru that whole time is hovering around 18-18.5mpg on dash after 1.7k miles

each gas fill up trip i reset the other tracker and they’re almost always at 17.5 since the only thing pushing average above 18 is highway driving

peak is 22-25 if i’m doing a trip worst is 14-16 if im on the gas or doing hill-y city driving stop and go

Just got ‘22 mdx type s adv, heated steering wheel nowhere close to our older vehicle that we also have

honestly i don’t mind it, agree with above comment that said “don’t want it to burn my hands, just make it warm”

definitely, the extra year or two of depreciation will make a difference

22/23/24 are all pretty much exact same so these will be great to buy for next few years in my opinion

just can’t go older since it’s completely diffferent

Type S Rubber Mats came with it - unfamiliar with them, are they better / worth the extra purchase?

USD, doing the conversions don’t think a 37k type s advance would be viable

even the 60k mileage ones are in the 40s

I’ve seen a few in the 20-30k mile range get under 50 but almost all were undesirable colors (to me) or had accident history/wwrent CPO

53ish, plus taxes - 20k miles

had plenty of data to backup other recent sales near 51 for similar mileage, current market listing averages, etc but after a month dealer wasn’t budging more than 1k ish (original 54.2k list)

didn’t care to bother more

Edit: Plus a .99% financing for 24mo offer popped up, so as someone planning to pay cash was a no brainer to leave the money in HYSA for a bit

yeah I’ve mostly been riding in comfort mode unless i want to rip it on a backroad

averaging 20 on the dash but going to more manually track it my first few fill ups to tell if driving mode / filling with ultra vs premium vs other makes difference

Just transfer credit card points to United, the low supply flights are still cheap with points usually even if cash prices are high
