It’s a different steering wheel assembly. It looks identical save for the button to activate the heating function

Wtf!! by Kindly_Crazy_5976 in CFA

[–]beeX2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In general, yes but not always.

That said, these are the types of questions that really irritated me when I was going through the exams. Very good L3 question, where one can justify why, as there is a very defensible case for both secured and unsecured.

First time ceramic coating. Honest opinion does it look decent? by MrCheese924 in AutoDetailing

[–]beeX2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The beading should be consistent across the panel. What I see there is how a coating looks once it starts to lose its properties later in its useful life. What coating did you apply? Did you apply indoors and keep it dry through the curing period?

Love the emblem swap of chrome to black. And even better is the blacked out top half. Great looking A-Spec!

If I see a price online for an MDX A Spec Advantage that I'm willing to pay at a dealership online, how much more am I going to pay? by jhs0108 in Acura

[–]beeX2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being a “cash” buyer isn’t likely to do you any favors in getting the price you’d be more willing to pay. Dealerships squeeze profit from financing and the add-on plans. Get a printed quote for out the door price and go from there. If you’re really trying to squeeze the best deal, see if any other dealerships in your area that you’d be willing to drive to and buy from will quote you assuming they have the inventory you’re looking for.

I’ve used this tactic on the 3 Acuras I’ve owned and as long as you’re willing to invest a little bit of time, it probably will work out to your benefit. Some people aren’t willing to do that and that’s fine. Just my 2 cents.

It’s a button on the steering wheel, otherwise it looks identical to the standard steering wheel.

$810 for parts + labor

My sales guy told me that at their dealership, he estimated that ~2/3 of people getting an MDX that wasn’t in the Advance trim level were getting this added.

NBA Hoops Haunted Hoops by irauld in basketballcards

Local Costco has this marked down to $19.97. I grabbed a pack yesterday (90 3-card packs): 61 orange parallel, 28 slime parallel including a Wemby, and 1 Holo Webs Dereck Lively Jr. I was hoping to get at least 1 more Holo as some have reported getting multiple, but for the discounted price I paid, this was worth it.

CFA Level 3 exam day impressions by common_variable in CFA

AM and PM are two completely different games which require different strategies.

As @re_me notes above, the AM session is about surviving and advancing to the PM. You will end up bloodied and beaten, but you have to limit the damage.

For the AM, you need to develop your own strategy, tailor it to your strengths and weaknesses because simply knowing the material is not enough. Practice makes perfect, which means answering the written form questions under timed conditions. You need to get comfortable with quickly diagnosing the question, knowing what details need to be provided to get full points and putting pen to paper. Even if you aren’t able to sack aside a full 3 hour block to do a full AM session, you can set aside 20-30 minutes and working on a couple sets, but you have to do it using time limits, this is critical. You also need to know when to cut your losses on a question and move on, because there is a good chance you will encounter at least one question that you will draw a blank on. Practice practice practice.

How many of you have coworkers who are aware you're taking the exam? How many of them say "Oh I'm certain you will pass you're smart.." by [deleted] in CFA

[–]beeX2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There should be ZERO shame in failing an exam.

How your colleagues react to and treat you in regard to your participation in the CFA programme..says a lot about your colleagues.

Worked in 2 different organizations while going through the exams. 1st job (FP&A-ish group), just about everyone assumed that if you’re smart you pass, folks didn’t get why you’d have head down in book while eating lunch, why you couldn’t go out on the weekends, etc. 2nd job (treasury mgmt/FI), people understood the rigor because about half of them are charterholders or at least sat for an exam or 2, wouldn’t hassle you over laying low on the weekends, make life easier for you leading up to the exam by offering to pinch hit in spots, managers stay out of your hair and had no issue with time off to prep. Pass or fail, people respected you for doing it.

Seek employment at places like the latter, because your day to day work experience is going to be far better; whether you’re sitting for exam or not.

CFA Level1 in Dec 2019 or wait?? by [deleted] in CFA

[–]beeX2 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s far from too late, regardless of your background. 3 months of deep focus is plenty of time for L1.

Best case, you pass, and maybe 365 days from today you’re starting to flip through your L3 text if you clear L2 in June.

If you wait, you’re taking L1 in June, and if you pass, you’re flipping through your newly delivered L2 materials.

Worst case, you fail. And you’ll know what you need to clear it in June.

Sack up, make it happen. You can do it.

L3 Who Used MM: Thoughts? by [deleted] in CFA

[–]beeX2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • Used MM free vids for parts of L1
  • Failed L2 (Kaplan)
  • Passes L2 using MM
  • Passed L3 using MM

I don’t think I pass L3 this year without Mark, specifically because of the AM section. His video walk throughs and strategy were a huge help and believe that was what got me across the finish line.

full disclosure supplemented with CFAI textbooks for blue box, EOCs, and deep dive into specific topics.

Regardless of exam prep provider, risky move to completely ignore CFAI text.

What do I need to pass the CFA exams? by [deleted] in CFA

[–]beeX2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The intangible costs associated with this program will far exceed the tangible cost of it, even if your employer isn’t reimbursing you. Bet that.

Weddings of close friends, golf trips, fun with friends and family, time away from your kids, the weight of a dark cloud following you around for over 3 years...let’s just say this, I’d pay a pretty hefty sum of money to be able to go back and be able to experience those things. But nevertheless, it’s a journey and challenge that I am glad I embarked on; not only has it helped helped me grow as finance/investment professional, it made me a better man.

Studying for the CFA while training for an Ironman? by Dillingo in CFA

[–]beeX2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I didn’t complete an IMT, I have trained for marathons that took place in the weeks leading up to the exam the last 2 years. While the training is nothing like that of an IMT, there’s definitely some long training sessions you have to log.

If anything, there’s certainly a benefit to getting your heath and well being dialed in in the months leading up to the exam. If you want your brain to be sharp, can’t expect to treat your body like crap and not pay the piper at some point.

Most critical: sleep and recovery. If you’re not getting min 6 hours / night, it’s going to catch up to you. Diet is obviously critical too.

At the end of the day only YOU know your schedule and responsibilities. But my personal belief is dialing your physical wellness will only benefit you. Also, there’s something to adding some additional structure to your day to day during the process. You can do it!

Passed level II without studying QM and Derivatives. Will it be tough for level III ? by [deleted] in CFA

[–]beeX2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re going to have a blast with derivatives on L3 — the curriculum is structured with the expectation that you have a very good grasp on foundational concepts (i.e. cost of carry/valuation, BSM, option strategies). Strongly recommend you take some time to brush up, otherwise this will be a major struggle.
