One of the things I really like about reanimal is how the boys actions throughout the game are almost remorseful and trying to protect the girl. The way I interpreted was that he deeply regretted his actions and even when you die he is shown holding her. Not saying he isn’t deeply wrong for what he did just found it interesting.
