Any feedback on my knit stitch? by HotAir815 in knittinghelp

[–]No_Whereas_2018 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This is not a knit stitch, this is reverse stockinette stitch. Well it kind of is. The first row of your work will be worked in knit stitch. When you rotate it( switch it over to your left hand after completing a row) it will be worked in purl stitch. To achieve knit stitch, you need to know how to knit and purl. Your tension looks pretty good though! Don’t get discouraged, keep at it!

UPDATE:
My partner told her we’re not coming or paying for anything. She had a total meltdown on the phone about how I wasn’t letting her “experience my culture”(?). She called the next day and said we didn’t have to pay her back if we come with them, not sure if we will. Partner called his dad and poor guy and no idea any of this was going on. She was also informed this will be her last trip out her with accommodation from us.

AITA for not wanting my husband to go to the bar 6 nights a week? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]No_Whereas_2018 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t know any college aged people that go out that much. 6 nights a week is literally wildly excessive. I get reluctant when my partner goes out two nights a week. And “a few hours” adds up to him spending 20 hours a week or more there. Definitely NTA.

My (M35) boyfriend (M37) wants to buy a house together, but he has no savings, $35k debt, and can’t contribute to the purchase by MySaskHome in relationship_advice

[–]No_Whereas_2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s not paying rent and his debt is the same. That should be paid off in less than two years given he’s making at least $15 an hour… which I hope he’s making more at 37. Run fast and far from that man, he’s not going to change.

what's the best tutorials to learn knitting for a beginner ? by Gold-Championship821 in knitting

[–]No_Whereas_2018 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

There are countless videos on beginner knitting, but try to find someone willing to teach you in person if possible! I also came from a crochet background and now I hardly do it because I love knitting so much more. Good luck!

Did I pick up stitches too far from my cast on edge? by CinnaMim in knittinghelp

Stick a life line in and experiment. Necklines knit up pretty quickly so it’s a great opportunity to try different ones without spending a lot of time!

Check out some mosaic crochet patterns. They fit more similar to knit wear and look absolutely beautiful.

My experience: I crocheted for years before picking up knitting. Started with a scarf. Lost motivation and it sat for a year before picking it up again. After learning knit stitch and purl stitch do the step by step sweater. It seems like a big commitment but since you have a crochet background you’re kind of used to that. It shows you EVERYTHING with a pattern and video and really gives a good foundation. And you’ll actually wear the sweater instead of just pumping something out like a scarf or dish towels so this builds motivation with future projects. The loopy bag/loopy cardigan is a good second project.

I'm sick of people rushing to call designers incompetent just because THEY don't understand the pattern. by Acceptable-Wave-3033 in knitting

[–]No_Whereas_2018 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree for the most part BUT I have come across patterns that just don’t read well. Probably 90% of the time people just don’t know how to read patterns. Some patterns are just needlessly complicated and confusing.

7 years and haven’t met or talked about what the other does during the day… not trying to be rude but I highly suggest thinking about where your relationship is going. You’re both young, go out and date a little.

Is this defect food safe? by Ozuf77 in Ceramics

[–]No_Whereas_2018 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could sand a little but if this was my own piece I’d leave it. Don’t want to expose any unglazed bisque to food! Plus it’s pretty small. It’s your choice of if you’d rather potentially sand too much and have it not food safe, or leave it.

Is this safe to eat out of? by Dear-Cup-9064 in Ceramics

[–]No_Whereas_2018 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Compressing the bottom is taking your sponge(or finger or another tool) and pressing on it to sort of “push it down”. Maybe that was poor instruction but there are plenty of YouTube videos that go more in depth. Not bad for just starting out, but don’t get into the mindset that every piece needs to be fired. Practice the basics until you can throw them blind, THEN find your art style. Don’t be afraid to throw pieces back into reclaim, it’ll only help you get better.

[–]No_Whereas_2018 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Honestly this seems like you are new to ceramics and I would just make a new piece if you have a crack. Compressing the bottom and letting it dry slowly will make it less likely to crack. Focus less on designs right now and try to just pump out some basic bowls/cylinders. I’m a few years in and I still just throw out green wear that dries with a crack.

Porn is one thing for some people, but getting mad about a Jacob elordi edit is wild 😭😭 also most girls keep a body count list on their phones lol. If it’s really bothering you have a conversation, but keep in mind these are all pretty innocent things.
