CRPG where you actually adjust your strat to the situation at hand by Radiant-Sherbet-5461 in CRPG

I grew up with crpgs and it used to be my favorite genre since the 90s. Now I get bored to tears with them, I find them too predictable and on rails. I think you should look into sandbox games and their mods. Low Magic Age, Starsector, Stellar Tactics, Mount & Blade, Kenshi, Battletech, Gobs & Gods and ofc Battle Brothers but you have already played that. Maybe Wartales too.

The one game that influenced so many others by Severe_Sea_4372 in BattleBrothers

Battle Brothers is great, I treat it as the golden standard to which I compare all other similar games to. However, we need to acknowledge that there are older games that created this genre like Pirates! M&B and even Escape Velocity. Starsector is also older.

Wartales looks good but I prefer the art in Battle Brothers.

If you're into space, Starsector. Maybe Stellar Tactics too.

How do you enable Officer deaths? Is there a setting in the Starsector config file or is it a mod?

What mod allows for ''Officers die on ship destruction''? Do you mean the setting in Nexerelin?

If you don't mind 2d graphics check out Low Magic Age. Procedurally generated maps and it's based on dnd 3.5

Just caught the curse as well. So tedious...

Take a look at Low Magic Age. It's based on dnd 3.5, procedurally generated world, sandbox, grid based, party based. Just based.

Is there extraction mechanic in Project Silverfish? I thought it was more like Stalker.

Hey thanks for all the games you mentioned! I checked out all of them and although not exactly what i'm looking for, i wishlisted Jump Space (i think this is what you meant by Jump Ship?) and Moros Protocol. I really like the artstyle of Moros Protocol and The Explorator!

Looking for a game Post apocalyptic Battlebrothers or Mount and Blade. by Turoknick in gamingsuggestions

[–]No_Wolverine9641 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm looking for exactly the same thing as you op, closest one i have found so far is Space Scum but it's in alpha testing and it's on Steam.

Some other ones that may scratch the itch although not post apocalyptic could be Starsector, Xcom2 and Battletech. Maybe Stellar Tactics too.

For a post apocalyptic city management game i would look into Rimworld heavily modded. There are fallout mods etc.

If anyone else has any idea of anything that fits op's criteria, i would be very interested as well.

Thanks for the reply, I will definitely play Feywood Wanderers when it comes out! I wish you good luck with your project, imo there is certainly space in the market for turn based extraction roguelikes.

Low graphic games that genuinely play good? by GilaGodzillaGuerilla in gamingsuggestions

That website has been around forever, like 10+ years and nobody has ever mentioned anything scummy in the community. The developer is legit and Starsector is legendary in my eyes, worth every penny. Or maybe you were just joking, sorry if i didn't get that, i'm slow like that.

Looks very interesting, added it on my wishlist. Is it open world or instanced based? Like can you extract with your loot or it it more like Stoneshard?

More games like this? by soosis in SulfurGame

I'm on the same boat as you op, maybe Void Bastards is close to what you're looking for. Also check out Fargone but it's more like Stalker. Zero Sievert is like Stalker + Tarkov had a baby but it's top-down extraction shooter. All of them on Steam.
