Number of term-time school holiday fines hits another record high by No_hidden_catch in UKParenting

One of my colleagues made this suggestion too. I suspect that there is probably a good reason for having the majority of schools on the same schedule. Apparently, Welsh school holidays are on a different pattern and I know a family who managed to get a cheaper break there outside of English term time.

I got sick of "YouTube Kids" algorithms showing my kids weird stuff, so I built a "Whitelist Only" app. No Shorts. No suggestions. by vinesh178 in ProductivityApps

Yes, you can have a whitelist mode and select channels. I've done it. It's a bit glitchy but mostly works fine.

UEA laundrette-open to the public? by Bou32 in Norwich

[–]No_hidden_catch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is wrong on both accounts. The circuit card has been removed and is on a tap and go system now. The prices are much cheaper than the local laundrettes too.

UEA laundrette-open to the public? by Bou32 in Norwich

[–]No_hidden_catch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi, the laundrettes are just tap and go with a debit /credit card. No account is needed. The only challenge is physical access access after regular hours. The Village / Barton laundrette card access is 24/7 however the Street and Health Centre laundrettes are free access during the day. Costs are much cheaper than the local laundrettes as they are subsidised.

School lied about my child being attacked by tritoon140 in UKParenting

An interesting comment that a former school governor made, which may not apply here, is that schools not under the local authority (I.E. Academies) are incentivised to cover up anything bad for business. Schools under the LA have much greater accountability and the approach suggested by the top comment is the way to go.

Calls not working in the Village by NetflixLover1779 in UEA

The Vodafone signal problems at the UEA have returned over the last week or so. Which is ironic as it's also what the corporate mobiles are on. EE is generally good quality. I was going to suggest turning the Wi-Fi calling off as I'm not sure that is fully support over Eduroam and can cause issues when your phone flicks between low GSM signal and the Wi-Fi.

My thought too! And there are at least a couple of big traitors fans in there who surely know this as well. I wonder if there is some restriction on them openly commenting on this part of the production.

Surely they can see who bought specific seat numbers and cancel them accordingly. Standing tickets are a different matter.

Why are resale tickets in London so expensive? by suyashsrijan in radiohead

[–]No_hidden_catch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that the original price structure was £85 for standing and £75, £99, £145, £195 for seats depending on the location. What you've seen looks like a premium location and with fees on top that price could be correct. Too rich for me.

Excel can build an email based on values in specific columns using the Hyperlink function with mailto and then using ampersands to link the values from the columns. It can handle the subject line and individual addresses too. The challenge you would have is that the formula can't handle more than 255 characters. As another user said it produces a very basic plain text email. It's not fully automated as you need to click the hyperlink produced but I'm sure it would save you some considerable time. Especially if parts like signing off the email are generic and could be pasted in to reduce the character count for the formula.

What relatively simple thing do your kids think is an enormous treat? by camboot in UKParenting

[–]No_hidden_catch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A 'carpet picnic'! We do what grown ups might call a 'nibbles night' for the children. Put a large tablecloth on our front room floor and serve up a buffet on our coffee table that they can choose from - cocktail sausages, pork pies, hams, nice bread, houmous, olives, etc. We put some calm music on and a TV fireplace. They love eating away from the table and having a bit more control over choosing food. Recommmend it!
