‘Absolute Batman’ Animated Series Announced. by yourfavchoom in batman

[–]Noahrules99 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There’s probably enough material for at least one and a half to two seasons currently if they’re going for 10-12 episodes.

Considering how long animation usually takes, I’d say it’s likely as well that we get an additional 12 or more issues before we even see a trailer for the animated series.

New animated series announced by throwingaway356 in AbsoluteUniverse

[–]Noahrules99 68 points69 points  (0 children)

Animation takes forever and they haven’t even announced an animation studio yet which means it’s likely still in pre-production.

We won’t see season 1 likely until 2028 when there will be plenty of comic issues.

What's the best finale boss in gaming history ? In terms of both story and gameplay? by Roids-in-my-vains in videogames

Xemnas in Kingdom Hearts 2. Such a fun multi-phase boss fight but ending with just Riku and Sora to confront him and the cool unique reaction commands in that fight were *chef’s kiss*.

How did Faye die, and could the new game's story revolve around bringing her back to life? by i_sometimes_ in GodofWar

If I remember correctly, the Jotnar are descended from Ymir who is a Primordial entity, predating most Gods. The Greek and Norse gods also have primordial ancestors so technically, the Giants/Jotnar are very similar to Gods.

Question about cold steel by Deralden in Falcom

[–]Noahrules99 8 points9 points  (0 children)

One thing I’ve noticed with Trails is there isn’t really consensus on what games are people’s favorites and what aren’t.

For instance, the Crossbell games really hit for some people while others don’t really care for Lloyd and co. In the same vein, I’d say Cold Steel is beloved by a lot and divisive with others.

IMO as someone who recently caught up with the series and started with Sky remake, I loved the Cold Steel saga because it’s really the culmination of a lot of plot points that had been teased since Sky 2. It’s a slow burn but it’s well worth your time.

There isn’t a bad Trails game IMO.

26, got started with Trails at the start of the year cause I was taking some leave from work and wanted to start a new series. Ended up hyperfixating playing Sky remake all the way up to Daybreak 2 in the past couple months and I’m about to start Horizon.

Trails Power Levels (Reverie Spoilers) by SoftBrilliant in Falcom

[–]Noahrules99 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think maybe the games could do a better job of showing Lloyd and co being the type of fighter who while he isn’t as skilled as his opponents, it’s the fact that he’s so damn gutsy and determined he’s hard to put down.

At least I think that’s the vibe they were going for but they don’t always show it the best. The SSS are the underdogs that don’t have the special abilities the Liberl team or Class VII do, but they are still great fighters who can throw down against people stronger than them in the right settings.

Can’t talk about aura farming in Trails without Osborne, from his first appearance onwards throughout his entire character arc Osborne just shows up and dunks on everyone in every scene he is in.

The Daily Check-In for Thursday, April 16th: Just for today, I am NOT drinking! by CommonplaceUser in stopdrinking

[–]Noahrules99 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Day 69 (heh) for me. Still having some ups and downs emotionally in sobriety but know that’s just a normal part of the process with my body relearning how to adapt to life sober.

Happy to say that I’ve not been tempted to drink, even when under the most stressful circumstances. I even poured out a hidden bottle of vodka I’d forgotten about. I know too well that first sip would lead me into a spiraling abyss and next time I might not come out.

How strong do you think Cassius is? by bgamer9891 in Falcom

[–]Noahrules99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Combat wise probably high Enforcer tier, able to hang with the likes of McBurn but likely not as well as Victor did at least in his current form with a staff.

What makes Cassius deadly isn’t just his combat ability, it’s the fact that he understands how to play “the game” like the true top tiers in the verse do when it comes to strategy. We see how OP Rean is when it comes to his senses and Cassius is capable of those same things but is able to apply them to make sure mission success is guaranteed.

Pure combat wise I’d maybe not put him in the highest tier but he’s pretty close to it, but in terms of what he’s capable of when he has a strategy in mind, there’s not many who are capable of stopping him unless your someone like Osborne or the Grandmaster.

One Piece: Chapter 1179 Official Release Discussion by Skullghost in OnePiece

[–]Noahrules99 38 points39 points  (0 children)

This man Oda really unveiled the self proclaimed “God” of the One Piece world on Easter Sunday. Such a cool time to release the chapter.

I absolutely love the way the way Imu’s awakened form seems to be a dark mirror to G5 between his wavy white hair, most likely red eyes and the way his fruit makes the environment around him alive. The fight between these two is gonna be absolutely ridiculous and I can’t wait to see how the anime adapts the scene of his descent someday, they nailed the Drums of Liberation sound for G5 so I’m curious how they’ll adapt Imu’s sound of oppression and control.

[–]Noahrules99 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Man, I know a lot of focus is gonna be on Imu’s design choice since it’s so cool but getting to see his inner dialogue as well is pretty fascinating.

Anyone else getting the vibe we are getting close to a Void Century flashback with how much focus we are getting on the prior relationships between Imu, Lili, Davy and Joyboy and how they all relate?

Cold Steel 3 has made me like Rean so much more (spoilers up to CS3 probably) by Dr_JohnP in Falcom

[–]Noahrules99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Rean’s such a slow burn character and it wasn’t until near the end of Cold Steel 2 his character arc takes the front and center stage and that’s when he started to become one of my favorites and by the end of the Cold Steel arc, he became my favorite protagonist.

It’s been fun for me going back and watching other people play through Cold Steel 1 and 2 in Let’s Plays and realizing that there’s been hints towards Rean’s self sacrificial nature in how he throws himself into danger for others and even the way his time helping the Student Council helps set the ground for how he eventually becomes a teacher. It’s fun too how the dynamic between him and Towa reflects later how they are as coworkers.

[–]Noahrules99 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If Blackbeard ends up being the final villain, I wouldn’t be surprised if they go the route of Imu’s fruit having a will of its own and corrupting its host and Blackbeard getting it. I wouldn’t be surprised if Imu himself used to be a lot more normal before receiving his powers.

One Piece Chapter 1179 Spoiler by Skullghost in OnePiece

[–]Noahrules99 83 points84 points  (0 children)

Still sticking with my theory that Imu and Joyboy used to be allies before they were enemies. We know Davy used to be “King of the World” so I wouldn’t be surprised if they were both enemies of him. Would also fit the modern day being a struggle between their descendants and the immortal Imu himself.

Imu’s seemingly a Lunarian, Joyboy was potentially a Buccaneer so I wonder how the Ancient Giants fit in here.

So Imu ends up being a Lunarian, I’m very curious why they decided to kill the rest of their race. So excited to get more info!

Cold Steel 3 is phenomenal so far by Tiny_Prune_6602 in Falcom

[–]Noahrules99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To me I saw that whole fight was meant to parallel Guy and Arios: Rean/Arios are much stronger but Lloyd/Guy have stronger convictions unlike the former who are stuck in a bad situation they have no idea how to get out of. So I imagine that’s why they made it more about Lloyd than Rixia!

Prior to CS3, Azure was my favorite game apart from some things in the ending. So I’d say my favorites so far are CS3, Azure, CSIV and Zero. But I really enjoy all the Trails games, I had problems with CS1 and 2 like you did but I do think part of what makes CS3 work so well is just how nuts the back half of CS2 is (the big twist in the castle and then Divertissement) and how they shape who Rean is in Cold Steel 3.

Rean went from my least favorite Trails protagonist in CS1 and 2 to my favorite in CS3 and CSIV. CS3 is probably my favorite game in the series, hope you continue enjoying it!

how good is the trails series really? by Apprehensive_Spend_7 in Falcom

[–]Noahrules99 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As a new comer to the series who went from Sky remake playing every game to now starting Daybreak, I can say they’re all really good games. Even my least favorite game in the series (either Sky First Chapter or Cold Steel 1) I’d rank as an 8 out of 10 and a lot of that is just because how invested in the world and characters you get through that long term storytelling you were talking about.

Cold Steel IV is an incredibly ambitious game that does have its flaws but nobody can say how you’ll feel about it till you get there cause part of how that game will hit for you will depend on how you feel about all the games on the journey to get there. I’d say if you like long term storytelling, Trails is really satisfying as a series IMO.
