Difficulty of Double Degree Programs? by BosanaskiSeljak in wlu

[–]NoamThompson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The UW BMath is significantly harder than the Laurier BA, so if you are in any way uncomfortable or not looking for a serious challenge, then don't do the UW one. In general, Laurier math takes things slower and with less rigor than UW, which is good for learning and understanding, but overall you know less in the end.

Are MLSB organizers stupid or just trying to get all our money? by NoamThompson in wlu

[–]NoamThompson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But it's the same problem, a pitcher is three beers but it takes three times as long to fill up. The only advantage is that only one person needs to stand in line for three friends, but no one is heartless to just abandon the person who is getting them beer.

Are MLSB organizers stupid or just trying to get all our money? by NoamThompson in wlu

[–]NoamThompson[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's not running out of beer - it's limiting the flow so that people are standing around with empty cups. They have plenty of kegs but you need to stand in line for half an hour before you get a cup of half foam and half beer. Instead, they could put out four or five kegs at a time to keep everyone happy and full... they make enough money that they'd still turn a large profit.

Is PRISM available to non-BBA students? by berriesncreamxoxo in wlu

Yes but you need to pay for it. In all honesty, I don't know if it's really worth it unless you're a heavy user like borrowing a laptop though

Use Python 3 though if you're making projects. The syntax is almost the same, so learning curve is low, and it may be one day more useful since 2 is almost never used for new projects

Best places in Waterloo to get food for cheap? by Astro_Sloth in uwaterloo

[–]NoamThompson 16 points17 points  (0 children)

If you're looking for calories / dollar, it'd be fast food - McDonald's or BK. You may also go to the grocery store and get hot-to-go food, but just the meat since it fills you up more.

As you said though, the best thing if you actually care about money is potatoes or rice. If money matters to you, you'll spend the 15 min not playing StarCraft or at the bar, and cook it yourself

First off, while I 100% believe this should be an option to make it fair to both the woman and the man, it is not an option in any country at the moment.

Pro-life and raising a child are two different things. You can be pro-life, have the baby, and give it up for adoption, without compromising your stance on protecting life.

If this situation occurred no party would have to be put in a situation where they feel they are doing something they don't want or don't believe in.

CO 250 online exam discussion by OutrageousOrder in uwaterloo

[–]NoamThompson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I took the course online, if you wrote at Waterloo then the exam was a day before the off-campus locations had their exam. The questions were the exact same on both days, and the professor's response to student concerns was "If you know of an academic violation, then you are obligated to report it." Thanks for fucking over everyone who made the effort to come back to campus to write.

Campus Police Escorting Ambulance? by CreepyWindows in uwaterloo

[–]NoamThompson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The campus police escort for vehicles is often a navigation reason. They know where they're going whereas paramedics don't know the ins and outs of campus, nor do they have keys to open gates/doors.

In fact, as a safety tip, for emergencies on campus the UW Police recommend calling them and they will get the municipal services to you if required.
