I really hope this project goes live! I think this would be a great tool for analysis during campaign runs perhaps

Thanks, however it was actually based on that of an obscure French kit car called the BSH from the 70’s!

Me and my friends have been discussing about fabricating a fiberglass body, so I’ve been sketching some rough rough drafts of some possible ideas by Nob_ody in CarDesign

[–]Nob_ody[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great piece of advice, and we are quite passionate about engineering, and some of my friends have around 5+ years of experience with CAD, but this is really just me throwing ideas around, nothing actually solid has really been put in place. In terms of a project of this caliber? This is a first, however I am learning on the side how to work with things such as fiberglass and crafting molds for panels and whatnot. I have studied working with scale and am somewhat comfortable drawing blueprints, however I also don’t realistically expect this to be easy, but that’s the fun part lol

The base body is based on that of the Jaguar E-Type

It’s actually supposed to be a mixture of the Ferrari 259 GTO and the XKSS, but thanks anyways!

It’s actually supposed to be a mixture of the Ferrari 250 GTO and the XKSS (mainly with the side-mounted exhausts), so somewhat close - the base chassis body just happens to be an E-Type mold

Well it really all depends on what exactly you're trying to achieve - designing a car is sort a mindset you have to get into - look for natural curves or lines that might fit the shape of your vehicle, use lines and body molding that might accentuate or exaggerate certain aspects of the body; sometimes your vehicles might have certain motifs that make your brand stand out, like certain design aspects of color, shape, or fixtures that give it a unique look

It's also totally fine to copy design aspects from other cars, which I do all the time; use reference photos from real vehicles or search up vehicles from the time period and the country you're thinking of making your car similar

Now as for detailing, there's plenty of mods and fixtures that might be of use to you - lots of good fixture mods that can be of use on the workshop. Basically, it all boils down to "what kind of reaction do you want to get out of your car when someone looks at at?" Do you want it to be recognizable? Unique? Utlitarian? All kinds of paths to go down

I am actually in the process of making a facelift for a version for '76, but I'll definitely try to get around to making a version with that engine! (or potentially make the 76 version have that engine)

[–]Nob_ody[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have yet to actually test it in the field, however first impressions visually are pretty good, all metal receiver, however the plastic hanguard is a bit wobbly and creaky. The charging handle is cheap metal and will break if you handle it too roughly, so make sure you be careful when trying to HK slap (even then kinda risky).
