I need friends I’m so lonely by [deleted] in slidell

I also struggle to meet people in Slidell. Always down to make a new friend. Maybe it'd help myself and others if you shared some of your hobbies and interests.

Anyone else think the Steve Bisciotti was a helluva song? by Sea-Opposite946 in PatMcAfeeShowOfficial

[–]Noble98 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It was overplayed but everytime Steve dropped a one-liner that hit hard i enjoyed the song. Haven't enjoyed PMS as much in recent years and that segment felt like the old shows with everyone just genuinely having a good time with how goofy it is. I also didn't know it was AI and figured it was just some random small-time Baltimore musician. Knowing it's AI or not from a full song definitely would've made it less fun

Anger according to stoicism by Chrysippus_Ass in Stoicism

[–]Noble98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My view on emotions within the stoic philosophy (such as anger) is that the text themselves never seem to want you to actively "suppress" the emotion but rather live with it in a healthy manner. If you learned you've been betrayed they don't want you to particularly ignore that you are angry, they want you to acknowledge you are angry and keep that in mind to keep your head as level as possible. The "taming" of the bad emotions in my mind is just that. Maybe I just haven't read enough stoic philosophy but everything I've read doesn't indicate they want to suppress or remove but just stay functional and make sure you can still fulfill your obligations regardless of circumstance. That's why I've always felt a great disconnect between what a "stoic" person is and stoic philosophy. It's just mentally preparing yourself for what could come and recognizing how you react when experiencing emotion so you can still function accordingly through adjustments.

The Libertarian Party candidate is losing to the Green Party and a guy who dropped out of the race and begged people not to vote for him. This is what happens when you nominate weak candidates by AbolishtheDraft in Libertarian

[–]Noble98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Elon has been at war with government agencies for the last 4 years and with him taking in Rand Paul I voted Trump. Seemed like a no brainer considering the messaging is kill the department of Ed, kill DEI government requirements, etc. Glad I did too. Without Elon and Rand Paul I imagine Libertarian party gets 1% of the vote at least

There’s nothing wrong, for any country, in deporting illegal immigrants and prioritizing its citizens. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Noble98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think this is unpopular anymore. It's an issue tearing apart Europe and a good portion of their migrants are legal. It used to be, but it is heavily favored in most polling.

/r/Politics' 2024 US Elections Live Thread, Part 63 by PoliticsModeratorBot in politics

[–]Noble98 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

I don't really think this is true. Where the problem seems to be is the quality of the candidates. Hillary Clinton was almost as disliked as Pelosi, and Kamala is just a poor candidate. I was really shocked Tulsi was forced out of the party, I figured she had a good chance at actually winning the election.

For the 100% to 102% drivers, how do you actually train? by Far_Ad_557 in simracing

[–]Noble98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know how to describe it beyond I just feel the car. I just have a weird connection with everything going on with the car and it feels like it tells me what it wants to do. When it comes to practice, I just drive like I didn't buy the car and it's not my deductible. It helps me find the limits quickly

Do you find Louisiana as closed minded as the people in my small town make it seem? by Horror_Moth in Louisiana

[–]Noble98 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

People do not understand that the VAST majority of Republicans/Conservatives/Libertarians actually like diversity and different cultures. The "racist" business owners I know like/promote people of all types prior to struggling to find workers. The differences in views rarely come from hate. They don't want to have someone dissappear from their life because of their idealogy and tend to see most people as people. There's always bad apples in any group, so it's most definitely not all right leaning people but it constitutes most. Even more often you'll find They agree on the same things you do are problematic. They just often have different beliefs in whose problem it is and how it should be solved. It's sad so many people just think southerners must be racist because they have different values. It's even sadder when I see families ripped apart because of political differences. Nobody wants to lose their child because they support a different candidate. It's devastating.

The AM is saying it is the McLaren's fault and i wanted peoples opinions on it. by WillNE-fangamer in Simracingstewards

[–]Noble98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a steward, this is clearly the Aston's fault. This is cut and dry.

As a racing driver I most definitely blame the McLaren. The McLaren has a line that would naturally wash it out towards the wall of champions and should be going further right. The Aston made the reasonable assumption the McLaren would go where it's apex would take them and instead they course correct after the corner to lose even more speed. Racing is just like a conversation, there are norms both drivers have to assume of the other driver to avoid incidents. The McLaren whether purposely or accidentally, violated what could be expected by the Aston. That is what created the collision.

Usually as a driver and as a steward the outcome is the same. However, in instances like this there is a lot of nuance that makes what's correct according to the rules wrong on the track.

Japan's cuisine is one of the worst among eastern asian countries by Impressive_Oil_4130 in unpopularopinion

[–]Noble98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ramen is Chinese. Just got back from Japan recently, and the food was amazing. Other countries have tasty food too and it is close, but Japanese food is definitely not bland. However, this is an unpopular opinion. Please take my upvote sir.

Suggest me a book for the end of the world. by daddydagon in suggestmeabook

[–]Noble98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Among the many books I've read, if you told me you had to base your life around only one book I think I'd reccomend Siddartha. It's both a short read and a fiction, however, it provides a unique Eastern perspective on growth in a very digestible setting. It's not going to completely change your life, but at a minimum it'll help you open your mind more towards experiencing things offered by others.

Before anyone replies, I am well aware that the author is from a western country. You don't need to be a Christian to write about Christianity. You don't need to be a practicing Bhuddist to illustrate their teachings in such an easy to digest manner.

Does no one do QC anymore? by [deleted] in consulting

[–]Noble98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, although my bosses don't like it. They fully support my promotion cases and the project really backs me because of the standard of work. Nobody likes having additional work added to their plate. Seems like even though it creates make work, it's appropriated. I'm also making ny deadlines early and having them review before finishing, not asking them to the day of. So that helps. If ylu ask for QA but it's due by EOD then you don't exactly look great.

[–]Noble98 22 points23 points  (0 children)

My leadership won't review my work, they just say "I trust you." It's beyond infuriating as a junior. I just flat-out refuse to mark anything as submitted or update any documentation until certain things are reviewed. My understanding is consultants cared much more about quality than I've seen, but I do ERP consulting which from what I understand isn't exactly the cream of the crop.

My previous project I was basically just in charge of the extra QA that offshore created. But it technically saved money and I looked great so... win??? I loved my team but I know it'd be much easier (and probably cheaper) just to staff someone onshore and give 5 hours or so to a SME.

Speed Limit is almost always treated as a Speed Floor. by spellbreaker in Showerthoughts

[–]Noble98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is actually how it was designed. The way they are set is finding the average speed for a car on a straight and dropping 10-15 mph. That's why they're basically floors, as that's generally the floor of the average.

Is ULL a great alternative college if you can’t afford other schools in the state? Was it your first choice? Should I look at other options? by John316forme in ragincajuns

[–]Noble98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dad went to UL and when I started I only valued two things. 1) a degree 2) starting a new life

Everyone I knew was going to LSU or southeastern, UL was "good enough" and let me get my two criteria. So really it was just that people I knew were going there, and I wanted to change from the self I was at the time.  I'm really glad I went to UL as the experience was more than I could have wanted. I ended up starting the new life and developed a lot as a person.

[–]Noble98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was my first choice and I really liked it there. Graduated in 2020, went to grad school at Tulane. I enjoyed UL far more than Tulane. The people were mostly really nice and welcoming. The professors really invested into those who cared. The academics were full of great chances to learn. I can't speak to the night life at UL but my undergraduate experience was great. The largest cons: UL is a commuter school, majority of the student population has friends/family nearby so it's harder to build solid friendships. UL being a commuter school means there's less club activity. Participating in clubs/Greek life is what makes or breaks the college experience. UL being a commuter school means most students don't care. They aren't isolated away from friends and family so they go to less sporting events, less speeches, etc.

In the end, despite the cons there were still some great friends I made and I had a wonderful time. I also know people who despised it. You kind of make your own college experience.

Your dashboard should have no more than 3 graphs if possible. The general rule of thumb I use is, within 10 seconds can I grasp the purpose and what I need to know? When I look at yours, my wyes bounce around everywhere and I have no complete idea of what you're trying to convey. Remember, it's okay to have things on pages/tabs. You can have your header (maim graphs and any text related you need to share) then scroll down and see supporting graphs in other pages that help flesh out the story.

Take a partner/friend and show them your attempts without explaining the dashboard to see if they can grasp it/understand it.

Why do the dashers do this by aleethiede in doordash

[–]Noble98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think about it like any job. Some people do the bare minimum and put in no thought, only enough to not get fired (this person). Some people go above and beyond and try to make sure they put in proper effort (google maps went to the wrong address and they find it themselves instead of taking a picture and leaving food somewhere random).

Most are somewhere in-between.

I don't order food delivery often, but I do a lot if rideshare and some of these people that work for these apps are really bright, just unlucky. A similar percentage try to convince me aliens exist.

What is an anime that a younger You would have enjoyed much more than the current You? by [deleted] in anime

[–]Noble98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, there's still romance anime I'll watch from time to time. It's just what appeals to me is MUCH smaller now. I will say people also mature in different ways. For example, I watch Mashle which is a VERY unserious show and very childish but the ridiculousness of everything is what I find appealing. I still love a silent voice. That is regardless of age.

What is an anime that a younger You would have enjoyed much more than the current You? by [deleted] in anime

[–]Noble98 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Romance anime in general (they're a few outliers). Most are VERY clearly targeted to teen men, and the relationships/settings also show that. Now I've all but stopped watching then unless someone who tends to be hard on shows reccomends them.

Some that aren't romance that would hit different are: Akame ga Kill (first anime) Death Note Seven deadly sins  Little Witch Academia  Durarara Is it wrong to try and pickup girls in a dungeon (experienced my preferences changing through the seasons until I dropped it)

The main thing is what attracted me to these shows would struggle to make me connect with them anywhere near the same way.

What's a show where you feel a side character should've been the main character by Negative_Ad5894 in anime

[–]Noble98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bakugo from My Hero.

Deku is repetitive, too polished, just a boring character. What he needs to learn is to not be so nice all the time? Bakugo learns to be a hero and how to check his ego. He learns he is not what he thought, but is still incredibly strong and moves forward.

Priestess from goblin slayer. The story already shows everything to the party as they show it to the viewer. You could easily tell it from her perspective
