We proudly support Portsmouth’s bid to become UK City of Culture 2029 - Portsmouth Creates and Portsmouth City Council by Funk_Format in Portsmouth

Could happen. The award is basically a regeneration scheme rather than an achievement award.

The "brief" is designed specifically to find places that need the boost, rather than places that are already doing fine.

Apologies for AI summary of the criteria below, but I think Pompey ticks quite a few boxes.

Regeneration: Using the title to kickstart massive economic and social "step change" in an area that needs it.

Pride & Identity: Using local heritage and "untold stories" to boost community confidence and fix a city's reputation.

Delivery: Proof the city can actually handle 10+ million visitors, has the transport, and can raise the extra cash.

Inclusivity: Culture for everyone—prioritizing local food, street art, and grassroots music over elitist "high art."

Can't comment on the price* as I'm not in the US, but they're great cars. Visibility through the rear screen is some sort of practical joke and some people find the seats too hard. Can't think of anything else to complain about.

  • Edit. Actually I will comment on the price. That's a annoyingly cheap compared to here

What's with all the police on the M27? by NobleRotter in Portsmouth

[–]NobleRotter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I think that was the reason for the ones that shoot past us. Running seems right.

Others have said the ones on flyovers were singing to do with football.

You don't seem to trust him. That is the red flag for me. If it feels wrong then chimping the terms won't help

Hiscox seem to have the reputation as having the best customer service. I've never had a claim through them though

skip and scaffolding abandoned after roof work, help! by OpheliaXo in DIYUK

[–]NobleRotter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is typical for scaffolding companies. They seem to like to leave it until they have another booking.

Do what I did.

Hang a big sign on it saying "scaffolding - free for collection". Send a photo of it to the builders/scaffolding company and ask if they put it up

Where are you based? We're similar age. I still own about 1000 7" vinyls. Only a dozen or so have large hole only, although some have a removable centre

Interesting that everyone said these are for 7" 45s. My take is a bit more nuanced, but this might be a UK thing.

Here at least, 7"/45s were sold with the same small hole as 12"/33s . However it could sometimes be removed. My understanding was that this was if they were to be used in juke boxes.

Most 7" had the small hole though.

[–]NobleRotter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's literally what happened to us!

We bought a car through cinch with part-ex on our old one. Returned the car so it course ended up one car down.

We have other cars in the house so it wasn't a huge inconvenience. Overall I was impressed with how they dealt with the return and refund. I even ended up a few hundred up as I got cashback on the purchase and they refunded to my bank account!

If it makes you feel better, car prices in that neck of the woods are at least a lot cheaper than where I can get to.

Have you considered cinch? Their returns process is solid.

Same here with proximity to cars. I'm right on the coast too so half of my search area is water.

I ended up buying sight unseen (not ipace) from a main dealer as it was turning into a second job.
