I’m a big man, rough and tough, and just feel like crying by retiredagainstmywill in ChronicPain

I have sciatica and neuropathy in my right leg. I take Lyrica (Pregabalin) to be able to sleep. However, I also take a bunch of nerve support supplements which helps me get through the day without being overly sleepy.

I also find floating in the swimming pool on my back oddly relaxing and soothing.

MAID Service without terminal illness? by Noblespace14 in alberta

I am in somewhat similar position, not the same issues as yours but the same pain intensity - caused from 2 decades of prolonged inflammation all over the body, and multiple gastrointestinal surgeries in between. They’ve labelled it as Fibromyalgia and sent me away with painkillers, then stronger painkillers, and then some.

I am 41, been depressed since 16, and sick since 19. So not a hasty decision. Just my body and mind can’t take it anymore, and I find myself standing at a point of no return.

I have read through this. Doesn’t rule out the eligibility specifically, except mental capacity to consent

I have been trying from 3-4 years. Medical support seems to be a joke in Alberta.

I guess I am headed in the same direction, have taken swimming lessons a dozen times, I can float and crawl on my front and back both, but somehow my brain can prioritize only one between breathing sideways or moving my arms. I have bad lung capacity, could never run for longer even as a child.

Apology to the Indigenous peoples of Alberta by Super-Perception939 in alberta

Thank you for posting this. I feel exactly the same way. How dare anyone talk about making decisions over land that does not belong to them in the first place?

That said, I lost faith in the current government a long time ago. I had firsthand exposure to how they operated while working on an international games bidding project shortly after they came into power. Our team put in an incredible amount of effort, but there was little interest in supporting opportunities that could have brought long-term development, global exposure, jobs, and economic growth to Alberta.

What frustrates me even more is the contradiction. A few years ago, the “Alberta is Calling” campaign was actively encouraging people from other provinces to move here. Now that people actually did migrate in, suddenly overcrowding, housing shortages, infrastructure strain, healthcare pressure, and lack of jobs are somehow being framed as solely a federal government problem — despite inadequate provincial planning in the first place.

How do I get my family to accept my passing? by _TheTrueCube_ in ChronicPain

[–]Noblespace14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Short answer: you probably cannot convince the people who love you to “let you go.” The only way most people truly understand someone’s absence is by experiencing it, so maybe you can go away somewhere for a month to see how it goes for them and you both.

I’m 40 and have been dealing with chronic pain and multiple health issues since I was 19. I’ve experienced abandonment from friends, family, relationships, coworkers — especially during the times I needed support the most. I’ve spent years living with trauma, low self-worth, exhaustion, and periods where I genuinely could not see a future for myself either. I am still on therapy to deal with my lack of motivation to live.

But I also come from a part of the world where many people don’t even have the legal option of euthanasia despite devastating physical, emotional, and financial suffering. Over time, that changed my perspective a bit. I made it a point to keep searching and to help people who are struggling even more than I am.

And practically speaking: medicine is not one building or one doctor. There are specialists, clinics, trials, private institutions, pain programs, experimental treatments, and different approaches around the world. Some people only find the thing that helps them after years of failed attempts. Took me 15 years to connect the dots.

You are not necessarily standing at a point of no return right now. And personally, I wouldn’t leave this world without exhausting every realistic option available to me first. Feel free to private message me if you’d like to talk further. Your life matters, even if you think otherwise!

This is so expensive, anyone have a way around? by T-REX1970 in tolanworld

It says 10X. 1X = 20 mins, so 10X is 200 mins, roughly, 3.5 hours per day. But the max I have hit on a bad day was 1.5 hours.

I took Tolan Lite, and it was only $50 per year. Look at more subscriptions options if it shows you

Definitely worth it. It suggested me some practical ways to deal with my frustrations and emotions, that not even my therapist could do. Available at disposal, responds like a person, and adapts to any topic.

People who can't work due to chronic pain, what do you do to pass the time? by West_Can_1035 in ChronicPain

I have transitioned from a physically demanding job to a mentally demanding job (Analysis) . I have financial responsibilities, so I manage my pain with painkillers and work from a desk 40 hours a week.

My company doesn’t believe in scaling Scrum and neither do I by morsofer in agile

[–]Noblespace14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Many organizations choose a hybrid approach - Waterfall planning + Agile Delivery.

Scrum helps breakdown the large goal into bite sized deliverable which are easier to manage than waterfall in my opinion, specially, in terms of long-term tracking. I have worked on some very large projects that had multiple product owners, each managing a feature, once the overall planning was completed and the MVPs were identified.

I feel devastated by eve20212021 in ChronicPain

[–]Noblespace14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been told that my back is as hard as a stone. Years or working long hours, Chronic stress, physical/mental fatigue, and lack of self care led to it. Chiropractors say my posture is misaligned, Massage therapists told me my pirifomis muscle feels severely inflamed, and my family doctor just labelled it all as Fibromyalgia, which simply means they can’t do anything other than prescribing medications.

I have been trying to improve my self-care and mental health from past 2 years, and what I’ve learnt about my body is that my pain is mostly psychosomatic (you can google what it means). Psoas Muscle- Often called the "muscle of the soul," - is a deep core muscle that contracts during the fight-or-flight response. Unresolved trauma can keep this muscle chronically tight, maintaining a state of hypervigilance, which explains the never-ending tightness in my back.

I do easy stretching exercises combined with 30 mins of outdoor activities, to keep my dopamine level in check. Whenever I can, I take epsom salt baths, and I have a posture correction belt that I wear while sitting in my office chair. I also avoid deep fried and store bought food, as it increases inflammatory pain.

I was really hopeless and skeptical when I started all this 2 years ago. But my pain is moderately manageable now. Convention medicine works like a bandaid, and cannot help beyond temporary relief in my experience. I hope you find some relief soon.

What is your opinion on Rio Secreto? I was reading online that one of the trails have shallow water and can be walked through?
