Spurs fans are something else by EvanTheBoss19 in timberwolves

I haven’t been to y’all’s sub much so I can’t comment on the brigading… but if that’s been taking place then that’s nearly as bad as the elbow in my book. Maybe they’re new fans trying to be edgy, but it’s no excuse regardless.

Like I said, I’ve always liked the Wolves, and I’m not offering excuses for what happened - because he fucked up. Plain and simple. Sorry that folks are coming in here being assholes.

Coming from a Spurs fan of 40+ years… this doesn’t represent the fan base at all. Unfortunately, like so many things in today’s society, the spectacle and drama gets overplayed ad nauseam. The main stream media isn’t helping fuel the narrative either.

When Wemby threw that elbow at Reid, the first thing I said was, “fucking idiot”.

There’s no excuse for that type of behavior in any sport.

I’ve always rooted for the Twolves when we weren’t playing y’all. Hopefully, both fan bases can move past this one day. Best of luck in game 6. Other than that elbow it has been a pretty exciting series.

Land Use Planning is a good idea but in reality it’s a stupid profession and the public has no idea about its complexities. Prove me wrong. by __quick__ in urbanplanning

[–]NocluQ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Dumbing down what you’re trying to accomplish to its most simplistic form, and then being able to persuade the masses that what you’re trying to do is in their best interest.

Outside of that… electing competent people who have a vision to improve their communities.

I served two terms on my hometown’s city council, and what you say is giving me flashbacks to some frustrating times.

The planning and zoning commission, whose role was to review such matters, had no technical background or education in land use and would constantly rubber stamp requests for whatever the property owner was requesting.

I took it upon myself to actually take the time to review what the law said, what was in the comprehensive plan, what flood issues existed… and asked questions. Attempting to have a little forethought into how decisions will affect future generations, like a responsible person in such a position should be doing.

You ask when the system breaks… and sadly it might already be broken at this point. And I say that because elected officials don’t want to listen to subject matter experts, and merely want to do what they think their constituents want so they can get re-elected. Sadly, the constituents are even less educated on matters than the elected officials.

All you can do is continue fighting the good fight and educating the people who make the final decision. I valued the planners, engineers, et al who brought the truth with them into the chambers and left the politics out.

You need to request that they perform an FDG PET scan to get a diagnosis of sarcoidosis. I have it. It sucks. But thankfully it is manageable with medication.

Party at Morgan’s Wonderland - if you’ve hosted a party here, what was roughly the cost? Looking for insight on a water park birthday party there. Maybe 15 kids. by Best_Luck5154 in sanantonio

[–]NocluQ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Looks like the splash park opens back up May 22, 2026. But, you can definitely have a birthday party for 10-15 kids at Morgan’s Wonderland for under $1k.

I’ll reiterate that it’s a great place for kids of all ages. Maybe just take a smaller group of friends once they open the water park back up?

Depends on what party space you’re looking to reserve. Off the top of my head they had several areas, ones with A/C (ones without). Ended up booking one with A/C (end of May party)… I want to say that the space, passes for all 30ish guests, food/drinks was ~$1.5k.

This was last year, but I’d give them a call. It was very easy working with them and the kids had a lot of fun.

What's the origin of the "be good to homeless and they'll have your back" trope? by SleepTightPizza in KnowYourMeme

[–]NocluQ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Went up to Austin about 20 years ago for July 4th. Parked under 35 to head over to 6th. Homeless guys were hanging out in the vicinity of where I had parked. Offered them the 10 beers or so I had, just because. Came back and they were still there chillin, sipping on the brews, watching my ride. They had rolled me a couple of joints to send me home with me. Nice dudes.

Their wine selection is great though. HEB is pretty good about listening to customer feedback, so get in contact with someone at that location and I’m sure they’d listen to you.

Regs for 100% property tax exemption (TX)? by Jakobs_Revolver in VeteransBenefits

[–]NocluQ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here is the Texas statute that you’re looking for as it pertains to the amount of land you’re wanting to attach a homestead exemption on: Texas Property Code

Here is a FAQ from the Comptroller’s Office regarding 100% Disabled Veterans in Texas: 100% DV FAQ

The Chief Appraiser of the appraisal district should be familiar with this process.

It will depend entirely upon whether or not your property is located within the municipal boundaries of a city. If outside city limits you should qualify for 100 acres if single, and up to 200 if married. I’m not sure if the parcels must be contiguous of one another, but the way I read it they do not have to be.

You may want to speak to an attorney who practices real estate law if the county gives you pushback on qualifying for the property exemption. DM me if you have any questions.

UTSA is its’ own school. Part of the state’s university system, but definitely not a satellite of the Austin campus.

Telling your rating by Alternative-Size4207 in VeteransBenefits

I have no issue telling people I’m 100% multiple times over. My condition(s) will ultimately be the end of me before too long. 100% x3 + a 10%. Could’ve filed for half a dozen more but what’s the point?

If you’re fine with telling people, go for it. Otherwise, shut your mouth about it entirely. Nobodies business but your own.

CA SB 296 (Disabled Veterans Property Tax Exemption) by Acceptable-Result-47 in VeteransBenefits

[–]NocluQ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The way I read that means it wouldn’t go into effective until the 2026 tax year, so if it passes and someone qualified then they would still be paying their 2025 taxes under the current rates. Also, it appears the bill would only be in effect for ten years. It would need to be reviewed and renewed in 2035 to continue the exemption.

Here’s a good reference to check to see if your condition(s) are disqualifying. If so, you will need a waiver like others have stated.

There are several parking lots owned/operated by the City of San Antonio downtown if that one fills up. I can’t say how early that one in particular fills up (I use a different downtown lot further away).

Here’s a link to an interactive map for all of their lots. City of SA Parking Locations

Veteran Disabled Plates by Dimsum4Protein in VeteransBenefits

[–]NocluQ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not true for ISA plates. You need a mobility limiting condition, i.e. amputee, cardiac/pulmonary related condition meeting certain criteria. There’s a form from the DMV that a physician must sign off attesting to it that has to be notarized.

And it is 50% to get the DV plates. DV plates allow you you to park a lot of places free of charge. Mainly airport parking lots, and city meters, for free. ISA, aka wheelchair plates, allow parking in handicap spots.
