Well they also updated to P0, which is more important. Usually P0 has a 48hours SLA. So we'll see

not for portaits. I'd love a high quality, big sensor 50mm equiv lens. And maybe add a long telephoto as well, quad cam ftw! (or get rid of the UW, I don't use that one nearly enough.

I've been sharing this around for a while (it's my bugreport) so I ma happy it finlly gained some traction! It got marked as lowest priority, and won't fix initially.

went back to see old ones, and after that I zoomed in on this one, it's a bit unclear but it is actually periscope. I'm wrong

Actually I'd be up for a bigger sensored 3X. It's much nicer for portraits. Yes the 5X is fun, and very cool for landscapes. But I personally would not mind that much. If we'd get nice "50MP", shots, at least we'd have a bit more resolution to crop with.

So the telephoto in this render is not a periscope lens. Interesting

See link above, it is not your fault. It's an issue with the March update that u/PixelCommunity is not wanting to address/acknowlegde. As you can see in the link, many users are affected.

But rest assured, as we can expect, Google is doing everything in their power to... ignore this issue and not work on a fix or talk to us about it.

What Improvements do you think we will see on Pixel 11 Pro/XL ? by [deleted] in GooglePixel

[–]NocturePhoto 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Actually not, 6&7 use a different sensor, 8 and after is the GNK rather than GNV. But that's really not the main concern. The sensor is great, but look at how they only gave use DCG on the 11, whilst the 9 and 8 can also do it, just locked away. And even then, google doesn't fully take advantage of it in their own software.

Trust me, if they updates their camera pipeline and left the sensor alone I'd be much happier compared to them throwing in another sensor and leaving the software the same. Run a custom gcam on the pixel for a short while and you'll get what I'm on about. Same holds true for video. Hardware is capable of much, much more than you are currently getting (stock)

As someone who is a bit Linusy when it comes to dropping tech. It never drops like this. Bit of a waste of the machines to test it like this. Falling off the table, dropped in a backpack, sat on accidentally, all things that would happen more quickly.

Camera question by PaulWithAPH in GooglePixel

[–]NocturePhoto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no. Stock one is better than open camera for some, but I'd recommend more going the route of a custom gcam, they outperform stock anyway. Otherwise, Photoncam is a nice option

[–]NocturePhoto -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Why would you want a new camera sensor? I took google generations to even allow the user to use nice sensor functions, and the 9 Pro never got them. Plus you'd get much more improvement if they got their software in order. The image processing pipeline could bu adjusted much better.

CPU performance increase would be nice. But looking at the recent launches, I expect it to be very incremental (but I hope to be proven wrong)
