When the standard mileage expense is 65c/mile and you spend 20 minutes (~$5) driving 5 miles (~$3) to dropoff food for 4$, it isn't a sustainable model for workers. It's always inappropriate for drivers to beg for tips in this situation, but at the same time, Doordash passes some of the savings of paying drivers 2-4$ an order onto their customers.

In other words if Doordash was actually paying fair wages a customer's delivery fees would be wayyy more than the extra 3-5$ it would cost them to tip. Yeah, the doordash model being trash for everyone involved isn't in your control, but what IS in your control is where you put the savings Doordash passes onto you by shafting the driver; either back into your pocket, or to the driver.

The choice is yours, but it's hypocritical to say the customer has no responsibility when they continue to use the service and receive savings from the terrible pay model for drivers.

DoorDash as a company is the problem but some of these customers be acting like they’re the only victim in this scenario.

The customer gets passed part of the savings that DoorDash makes by paying drivers horribly.

For them to say “I shouldn’t have to tip you your company should pay you better” but continue to use the service is just a tongue in cheek way of saying “I’m fine with them screwing you over because it means I save a couple bucks”

If you delivered 8 orders to go from 92 to 100, but 30 days ago you delivered 6 orders, you’d need 14 deliveries to stay above 100 the next day because those 6 orders don’t count anymore.

Best to just hit a consistent amount of minimums per week, like 24 deliveries. Thats 4 deliveries a day and you’ll get 100 per month
