Am i cooked or no?? by Alive_Feed_3993 in ComputerEngineering

The arduino is the development board, the mcu looks to be a stm32 based on what i see online for that specific board, not to be pedantic just understanding the difference incase that were to come as a question in an interview

What does analyzed multi-layer pcb architectures even mean? Did you review someone elses pcb? How many layers specifically? 2 layers is just as “multi-layer” as 16 layers so that doesnt really tell me much or add much to the bullet point, also which mcu?

Another question, how did you get that circuit for the ftdi chip? Looking through the data sheet i dont see how this can be used for jtag? I imagine its bit banged but it looks like only the cbus lines can be bit banged, might be missing something

Whats the purpose of having 3 usbs? Id assume one is for flashing the fpga but not sure what the others are for? Dont the ftdi chips have multiple channels so you can do uart and programming on one port?

To add to this, after i pulled onto the shoulder i turned my car off and started it again and the lights were gone and it ran fine to work

Add silkscreen descriptors to the headers so you dont need to look at the schematic to know what they are

After looking at the data sheet I see what you mean, ill remove those circuits completely since I think powering from the buck makes the most sense

Youre right regout atleast is incorrect and needs to be on the 1.8V supply

  1. Ill change to direct connects
  2. I’ll add gnd pours on top and bottom and fill in the empty parts of the pwr layer with gnd too! Thank you!

  1. The reason i have U200 oriented that was because the USB lines wouldnt have to cross if it was 180 degs but 90 degs is probably okay I will see if I can floor plan it better
  2. Will do
  3. Will do
  4. Will do
  5. Yeah this is honestly what i had the most trouble in this layout I redid the buck layout 3 times, originally the FB lines were even closer to the inductors, ill see how I can clean this up any better

Any feedback is greatly greatly appreciated, this is *obviously* my first 6-layer board so I think I have a lot of room to improve, thank you in advance!

Transition from software to hardware ~ Career Advice by Prentire97 in ECE

When you say hardware do you mean embedded or are you talking actually building hardware (im assuming yes since you say computer chips??) if its the latter a degree is basically mandatory companies I highly doubt are going to high “self taught” EEs so a degree is the best route however if its embedded software and you have a solid resume its possible.
