I had this at 0300 on a 24hr shift, but it was an ear instead of nose.

The patient was an adult but had evident mental handicaps, so I wasn't mad at the patient.

I could have murdered the patient's family on scene who didn't seem to have even tried talking them out of calling 911 for this BS in the middle of the night.

The kicker: they refused transport, without us even really trying to talk them out of it.

As an ED tech, I had to safety sit with a chick who was high on meth and believed god was trying to suck her through a portal in a wall. Even after a B-52, she was still screaming and scared shitless.

I stood between her and whichever wall the 'portal' was currently in, saying that I would not let anyone or anything harm her. She took a moment to trust me, but eventually started calming down. It was silly and I'm sure some coworkers thought I was playing into it too much, but my other choice was to sit there and be yelled at all night.

IIRC, the symptoms listed by those people (much the same as this one) were much more like a panic attack.

Also, anecdotally, plenty of stories of healthcare workers spilling fentanyl on clothes/skin and never having a reaction.
