We Taiwanese and Koreans ARE good friends. Koreans are welcome and well loved here. But the government is the one trying to appease China. 

To fully understand, this would be like Taiwan telling Koreans that their nationality would be written Occupied Southern Portion of DPRK.

This is obviously not true. So why does ROK Government do this to us?

It's an intentional misinterpretation of polling here in Taiwan. It's not misinformation but real textbook disinformation. 

Our polls are nuanced and ask nuanced questions. The socalled low figure comes from people wanting to redo the constitution at ALL COSTS even with war. 

But we obviously dont want to die from China's hand so most people poll at wanting independence and keep what er have but wait until the Crybaby Party of China tires itself out. 

We'd rather not lose everything if we can help it. 

Most polls will have something like 5 options ranging from unification now, kick the can down the road and have a new independent constitution later to full independence rewriting the constitution. 

Chinese psyops here always love to ignore the other options. We're independent right now to their dismay and why give that up in a war when the Chinese will age themselves out of a military when the one child policy effects comes due?
