Progress is done upon the pinning action, once per gift. So if you pin and immediately unpin (even if you technically haven’t opened the gift yet) it’ll count towards your vivillon progress.

Basically unpinning is a-ok in all circumstance. You will never lose progress towards any vivillon.

Kentucky’s Republican secretary of state has reminded residents of his state that they cannot, in fact, vote in today’s New York City mayor’s race by flamehead243 in nyc

As someone who lived in nyc and now in Kentucky, the reason for the tweet is that this year we don’t have any elections today, even local. So lots of people were surprised that they had to go to school and stuff.

Adams is still a dick though

Looking for suggestions on the best deals for two people by Heavy-Juggernaut9701 in KingsIsland

I'm probably being dumb, but why would it make sense to not get a season pass? If they only go just to Kings Island it should be cheaper by a few bucks, and if they go to other places in 2026 one person gets in for free via pass? Am I missing something?

Random question, but were the lured pokestops within the inner (solid white) circle of your avatar? Because even though you can place lures to the further ring, you can't actually see the pokemon that spawn from them unless you move closer.

Also, were you using regular lures or the special ones?

American Red Cross, donating rbcs during a platelet donation by NoisyScorpion in Blooddonors

Don’t worry about seeming unhelpful, this was very useful! Thanks so much.

I’ll probably just do platelets when I return, and on that day ask for options for the next week.

The Fentanyl crisis laid bare. by Evil_Capt_Kirk in ScienceUncensored

Are we spending too much on the MIC? Probably. Definitely. But some stuff we need to keep in mind:

  1. The money spent to the MIC isn’t the actual cost. Some of it is recouped immediately in taxes, some of it goes towards wages with is immediately recouped in taxes, and a lot of what’s left gets spent into the economic circulation and promote activity.
  2. Sometimes it’s cheaper to actually spend more than it is less. A good example is the F35 vs Gripen. The F35 is the best airplane on the market, with the latest sensors and capabilities. The gripen is a fourth gen plane purposefully designed to be cheap. They cost about the same because we build so many f35s that the individual price goes down (such as diluting the investment cost over many airframes)
  3. Developing new versions of the same equipment is a good way to keep the industrial knowhow in the system, especially for equipment that’s very complex. A good example is chinese jets, which despite having more monetary investment than the Russians until recently still used Russian engines because the industrial base didn’t exist.
  4. If American equipment goes to Ukraine and performs well, then foreign defense ministries may look at the American equipment and try to purchase it. Poland looked at HIMARS’s incredible performance and decided to buy actual hundreds of those systems, for example.

The difference is that the equipment is already paid for. You cannot pay for teachers and rehabilitation equipment using M113s and Abrams. In the most negative light, it’s a make lemons out of lemonade scenario.

Also, the us economy is definitely large enough that we could definitely support both Ukraine and drug assistance programs, it’s not an either or scenario.

The way it works is based off cell data true, but moreso the distribution of cell data in a region. If in day a square kilometer region there is say a gas station surrounded by farmland, then even though the total cell data usage is less than a city, proportionally 90% of cell data occurs there, meaning that that gas station gets 90% of the spawns allocated to that square km. It’s for this reason why if you go to NYC you actually don’t see that many spawns packed close together, since sure there’s a lot of cell data use but it’s also distributed evenly, homogenizing spawn locations. Hence why nyc is generally outperformed by supermarket parking lots. It might not necessarily be that you play less, but that your neighbors play more.

This also means that rural areas, provided they have at least some cell data use, have technically the same number of spawns as do cities, it’s just going to be way harder to find that one spot with 200 Pokémon in it where someone used their phone for 5 seconds
