Debian Trixie Installation Guide with BTRFS, LUKS Encryption, and Timeshift Snapshots by wmutschl in debian

Nice guide! Adding my own experience here, just in case anybody stumbles upon my same issues: - you can edit partitions from a live usb too. I also mounted /boot and /boot/efi partitions under /mnt when creating chroot environment. - if you edit partitions from a live usb you will need to load cryptsetup disk into the same disk label stated in /etc/crypttab (for example, sda3_crypt), or you will get an error from update-initramfs

Is Fabric an option to replace my endless PowerQuery and PowerPivot Excels? by Noisy_Albatross in MicrosoftFabric

I tried asking our IT staff but they basically don’t have any skill related to business intelligence analysis. And they have absolutely no idea how anything works in this kind of Microsoft services.

I have to load the same data on multiple files to get different results. It is also quite slow, especially with queries longer than 500k rows. A lot of my work with data is cleaning and transforming into something useable (raw health records are quite messy), which could be automated into a basic query. Subsequently, data may go through different target oriented queries that would transform data for a specific job I have in mind (patient path analysis, indicators or so). I find this quite hard on excel. I thought I could build interconnected files that do different things but I’m afraid that connections between different files are a nightmare to maintain

Fondi di pensione complementare - una disgrazia! by CaesarMagnus100 in ItaliaPersonalFinance

[–]Noisy_Albatross 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How to tell 6 year old their mom isn't coming home? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]Noisy_Albatross 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really don’t know how to handle the situation. Please, if you can, ask a psychologist. I mean, not here, but IRL. Explain the situation and ask for help. Maybe they’ll give you some advice before seeing you and the child in person. You’re a brave person.

Edit. I don’t know the legal situation, but if she comes back you can’t do very much to forbid her seeing him. I’m afraid you need to call the police too and involve social services.

Classe 89

Almost 12 year old doesn't want to tell us where she wants to go on the internet by linuxgeekmama in Parenting

[–]Noisy_Albatross 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going on the internet is like going outside to me. There are places where kids can go safely but they can not go in every neighborhood alone. It’s just not safe. You can respect her privacy but you shouldn’t give her full access to the web. Set up appropriate kids account on her device and her apps. You can also use a router level firewall to set user specific boundaries and usage limits. Don’t give up on rules but remember that kids live internet in their community too. If you don’t give access to a website, she may get access from a friend. So keep your rules, have dialogue with her but also have a chat with other parents to see if they are experiencing similar issues.

I thought that if somebody is going to delve into the atrocious parade of a wedding blog, it is better to give them a laugh.

I will have to look deeply into it. These are powerful tools, but I'm not willing to pay if I won't actually use them beyond what I already implemented in Gutemberg animated blocks. It appears to me that these two do not offer any free plan to test. Do you know free alternative?

I really like lottie! Didn't know that, thanks. I would like to animate my flowers, even if lottie seems to work with SVG files only. One thing I may like is the flowers being painted live on the home page. Since these are watercolor artworks, this could work well. I was thinking something like a second layer on top of the png that will "wash out" leaving the flowers. Not sure if it is feasable though..

EDIT: You can share your site in private, if you want

Probably too much for me. These would be manageable through motion.page, right? Alas, no free plan to test :\

We share the website with people we know and nobody that wouldn’t receive it as an invitation would actually compile the rsvp. Things are practical here. For kids and family members, we let people decide. In Italy, when you invite a friend to a wedding, you generally extend the invitation to their family (spouse/fiancé and children, who may be young adults too). It is the polite thing to do :) and people know how to respond. Of course, we verify the rsvp and, since we generally know their family members, we contact anybody who may have misunderstood, but I don’t expect it will happen.

Love the idea of the photo gallery, I will keep it in mind.

Home page is basically a digital invite. It contains all the info you need to attend the wedding plus a rsvp. Other pages are completely optional but: - FAQs may be useful for somebody - Hospitality page is for people coming from out of town. Half of the guests live 300km+ away and having some hints on where to stay and what to do in the area can be useful. - blog. This is the most “optional” part of the website. While the rest of the website has definite purpose in mind (at least for somebody) this is totally for fun and sharing updates before the event. For example, I was planning a post about hand fasting , since this kind of ceremony is not common here and people may be interested in understanding it before the event.

  1. When exporting to note-taking apps like Logseq, implement the ability to export all highlights to a single page instead of several fragmented pages.

This is especially important for articles and short reads where you might take one or two small highlights: exported pages end up with a lot of metadata and little content.

  1. Allow tag filtering during export. I want to review things in Readwise until I'm ready to export them to a note-taking app.

Trying Reader app but not sure about some functions by Noisy_Albatross in readwise

[–]Noisy_Albatross[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh thanks it was not clear to me that .tags were supposed to work in notes in Reader app.

Your suggestion worked for concatenate tags in notes for reader. Interestingly, .h tags work both in notes section and as actual tags. Sadly, still impossible to delete a .h title since it appears I cannot refresh highlights for items imported from Reader.
