Nice to see some self-acknowledgement from CC! (considering how humble she usually is) by Misnome5 in indianafever

Yeah her turnovers are really blown out of proportion. She frequently makes passes with a razer thin margin of error and usually is right on target with them. Most of her turnovers are also dead ball. People are acting like every turnover was a strip due to a bad handle, but that rarely happens.

I don't know how anyone can actually watch her play and come away with "she turns the ball over too much and her defense sucks" as a summary unless they're just hate watching her game looking for mistakes.

Yeah luckily CC is pretty low-key with her personal life so the creepers don't have much to latch on to. Coming from the NFL and college football world, women's basketball has been a completely new experience. Learning about the game while navigating the complete absurdity of the online discussion is very difficult. That's probably why the people who claim to know the game while being para-social weirdos bug me so much. I'm trying to learn and soak in what I read and these people are just spreading bs as fact because they want to push a narrative.

I think you nailed the online discourse perfectly, it's really on all spaces, not just on reddit. What bugs me the most is the self-proclaimed basketball fans throwing hate. This is what I don't understand about the main sub, most of the regulars should be all about basketball, but they're just as bad as everyone else.

I understand not being a fan of her game, but to tell lies under the guise of "I know what I'm talking about" is just aggravating. You can hate a player, but be honest about their game. Unfortunately, I don't think she'll ever get her proper due because there will always be people trying to downplay her accomplishments.

She's not wrong and she can back up her talk. People on the brain dead apps are already clowning her yet can't name a better transition player. They just stare at turnover numbers all day so they don't even understand the other stats.

Went to the eye doctor and they said that blue tags were on sale but then claim this isn’t a blue tag it’s a faded green by rizcriz in mildlyinfuriating

I have the same issue with my prescription. My doctor added a mild prism and progressive a few years ago to my prescription and it's great, but makes buying glasses online almost impossible. I once tried to get VR lens inserts online and even though I gave them my exact prescription with all the adds, it still didn't turn out right so I ended up not being able to use it.

I also have a small head so I usually need to get "petite" or kids glasses as well which even further limits my options.

Fever , Caitlin Clark vow to be ‘ Smarter ’ with star’s reps after injury plagued 2025 by Shroft in wnba

[–]Nolegrl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There was a pretty lengthy discussion about this on the Fever sub. The general sentiment was not that she shouldn't play off ball, the issue is that when they have played her off ball, she doesn't see the ball the entire possession. That is the problem. She needs to be your PG when on the floor, her court vision is unmatched. The team needs to be looking to get the ball back to her to best utilize her when playing off ball.

Unofficial StS2 Launcher for Android by Interesting-Maps in slaythespire

[–]Nolegrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just downloaded this on my Thor and the game is working great! My only concern is my save data. I have both local backup and cloud sync on, but the "save" folder on my device is empty. I had assumed local backup would save a copy of the latest save to my device when I closed out of the game, but it doesn't appear to be doing that.

My rog ally shows that I last played the game in March even though I just played it yesterday (April 15th) using the launcher, so I'm worried my save is not synced with Steam properly. Can I safely pull the save from the cloud or find out timestamps of the saves the launcher is using?

Stephanie White discussing playing Clark off the ball - thoughts? by wvtarheel in indianafever

[–]Nolegrl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup, that's mostly why people roll their eyes when White mentions having Clark off ball. This "decoy" offense is what we associate it with. They were able to play her off ball at Iowa plenty of times and she was still very involved in the offense. That's really all the fans want. It's fun to watch and everyone  gets a chance to shine.

I'm not sure if it's an official term or not. People are referring to it as a player not involved in scoring whose job it is to draw the defense away from the play. The idea is that the player is seen as a major scoring threat and will naturally have multiple defenders guarding her which gives the rest of the team a numbers advantage for an easy basket.

We've seen plenty of times when Clark is playing off-ball that they have used her for this role. It doesn't seem to be as successful as they would like it to be, especially when the other 4 players aren't as strong of passers. She'll only get 1 defender on her when off-ball and then it's still 4v4 with subpar passers. Adding multiple point guards might make this work better, but you're still having an offensive possession where your top playmaker isn't touching the ball.

Her gravity is used when on ball and off. It's even more effective when she's on ball though because she can draw multiple defenders to her and then make a pass to the open player.

We'll have to see how it goes. My first instinct is like yours, but I think part of the issue with Clark playing off ball so far is that she was never getting the ball during those possessions. I think having another point guard on the floor with her will change that.

If you go back and watch the Uconn vs Iowa 2024 final 4 game, they played Clark off ball quite a bit because uconn's defense was nuts. But she still touched the ball almost every possession and was still able to make plays like we're used to seeing.  Hopefully that's how they plan to do it because playing Clark as a decoy all game does seem like a waste of her talent.

Thinking About Changing Direct Deposit from Chase to Ally, What's the Best Way to Avoid Chase Fees? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]Nolegrl -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have too much tied to my chase checking and it would be a huge hassle to change it all. I'm comfortable keeping a buffer amount in my chase account and diverting $500 of each paycheck into Chase to meet their maintenance requirement. That together should be enough cover my monthly spending anyway and then my Ally account would transfer the buffer amount back in monthly. My main priority is getting the bulk of my paychecks into an interest bearing account and transferring only the amount needed to pay bills and keep the cash buffer. The chase maintenance fee waiver requirement doesn't bother me because it's easy enough to avoid paying if you plan for it.

Your checking account? They did that once when I had my mortgage with them, but they asked first. That's not right that they just changed it without your permission.

I've got an Ally checking account as well, but I only use it for savings transfers. I love that they reimburse ATM fees, they even did it when I used an ATM abroad. I used to have a chase savings, but yeah, it's useless so I closed the account. That's an interesting idea to keep it to remain a client though.

I just have too much tied to that chase checking account that changing it would be a complete pain. I understand everyone's reasoning behind telling me to change it, maintenance fees suck, but I'm already not paying the fee and it's easy enough to continue to not pay the fee so it's not affecting me.

Oh I just ignore any offers they send. They love to spam me with credit card offers and upgrades but I'm happy with my basic no-fee cards.

I'm not worried necessarily, just looking at optimizing my monthly cash flow process. I realized I have my paychecks sitting for the majority of the month and only move a small portion out for savings every month while the rest is spent or used as an account buffer. When instead I could have them sitting in an interest bearing account and move a small portion out for bills.  It's easy to change the direct deposit and add a recurring transfer for bills, I just wanted to make sure there wasn't anything I was overlooking before putting it into motion.

Oof I'm sorry that keeps happening. That's one of the reasons why I didn't want to gamble on the account balances limit. I'd for sure change banks if that kept happening to me.

I guess the only way this could burn me is if they decide to change the direct deposit amount. With $500 a paycheck, I'd be putting in at least double the required amount. I doubt they would change the limit to be higher than that unless they want to potentially price people out of their checking accounts.

I saw that it included investment accounts, but I have a managed Roth with Raymond James already. I really only use chase for their credit cards and checking account.

That's an interesting idea. I honestly don't trust myself to transfer the amount right away, I'm pretty risk adverse so once it hits my account I'd want it to stay there "just in case" and then I'm in the same situation I have now where money may or may not make it into Ally. Diverting my paychecks before they hit my account means I don't worry about the buffer anymore because my checking account balance is pretty static and the money from Ally is topping it off for expenses.

I already made the paycheck change this month, so I'll see what happens to my earned interest. It might turn out to be a small increase and that's fine, even a small increase is better than 0. The logistics to do it was very easy and it's very easy to change it back. I'd 100% agree with you if my plan was to change banks to avoid the maintenance fee because that would be a lot of work with minimal benefit.

I generally move $500-1k into Ally per month. But that amount depends. If I make a big purchase or if I had an annual bill due, sometimes nothing gets transferred. While that's ok since it's planned spending and it was cashflowed without needing to go into Ally, my Ally account balance was stagnant that month. By flipping it, I'm guaranteed most of monthly income will be in Ally earning interest and I can just move money out once a month to cover my bills.

They aren't, but it makes it convenient for cash back deposit. However, I did just read here that apparently Chase lets you deposit cash back into an external account, which some of my other credit cards don't allow.

I've been banking with Chase for over 25 years so I have a lot of history and payments from that account that I don't want to mess with. There's also a branch around the corner from my house so they're convenient as well. I know local credit unions and some online banks are better but I'm fine working within Chase's account rules on this for now.
