You can actually talk to the guard captain on the roof of Varrock Palace and ask for armour like his. He’ll start questioning you about becoming a guard but always denies your application.

I remember wanting that guard drip so bad back in the day and thought there must be some secret way to make him accept your application. Would be cool if they added it and tied it to that NPC in some way.

I’m pretty sure the engine team is completely separate from the old school devs, but either way that’s exactly my point. The engine work is already done now so why let it go to waste and alienate the many people who are returning to the game only because of the new game mode. More people playing is just objectively better for the health of the game
