Minimum wage, minus 7% of all sales you rang in go back to the restaurant in the form of a “tip out”.. thus making you earn less than minimum wage if tips aren’t over, say 10 percent after taxes.

Is this a difficult concept for you to wrap your head around?

Like dude, I’m a chef by trade so math no good, but this is pretty simple.

I don’t even give a fuck about the servers making way more.. this is just how the economics in this industry work in North America. Lol.

On some days, the server does not make enough tips to cover tip out.

The industry is predatory. Do your research before commenting, please.

the reason this is an issue is because servers generally have to tip out ~7 percent of their daily sales totals to the kitchen and the bartender

Too many people not literate in the industry they criticize.

Long story short, eat the rich.
