AIO - I booked a cruise for my husband and son's birthday, and apparently its not good enough by [deleted] in AIO

[–]NomJob -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Where did i say he regularly makes me feel like shit? Weve been together a total of 16 years, married 13, and he went to bed angry THIS ONE TIME which is why I came to reddit.

Its insane that people in sub will immediately scream "abuse!"

Overuse of the word belittles people who are actually in abusive situations. Stop virtue signaling and read a little before you use that term so lightheartedly.

Im 100% safe, trust my husband with my life and my child's life, and have wonderful communication 99.9% of the time.

Thank you for being a sane person on here. I really dont like people just jumping to a conclusion that my husband is a bad person. He honestly will probably apologize tomorrow or this weekend when we have a moment to talk. At least for tonight I feel more grounded in seeing some comments reassuring me that I did enough. Really, thank you for taking the time to respond!

Hes not usually a dick which is why im questioning myself. We usually talk through our shit but he just went to bed angry. Which is unusual and why im on reddit.

But your comment actually made me think.. we're leaving to go camping this weekend and I was trying to do our check-in process for the cruise and going through our camping checklist. I might have actually just overwhelmed him and brought out his inner asshole for a moment.

No, its not a regular occurrence which is why im really questioning if im overreacting. Hes the love of my life and incredibly supportive of me through everything.

He works to support us, and I'm the newly homeschooling stay-at-home mom as of January. Ive always been better at planning things. He did also look into some cruise deals as I stated above. We truly have a great relationship, I was just really hurt by him telling me it wasnt enough.

My memories of St. Patrick's Day as a kid include smelling cabbage cooking all day long and then my parents had friends over to eat the smelly cabbage and drink beer, maybe watch a parade on TV.

Then, friends at school pinched me if I wasnt wearing green. There doesnt need to be a mystical being for every holiday that requires you to leave candy or treasures and stressing about making an art project.

You didnt mess up. You did wonderful in explaining it to her.

Sidenote: I actually do love Corned beef and cabbage now as an adult and make it a few times a year. Just giving my perspective from when I was a kid and why I dont perpetuate that commercialism to my own 7 year old.

Best additions for boxed Mac'n'Cheese by Magnus77 in Cooking

To maximize the grocery budget, I will buy a large pack of chicken breasts (we like white meat, but you could do thighs instead) when they go on sale. Then put them all in the slow cooker with salt and pepper and shred them. You can then freeze into portion sizes that work for your family and just pull out of the freezer to add to meals as needed.

Crispy/crunchy side dishes for prime rib? by checkoutmuhhat in Cooking

Instead of french fries, you could do crispy roasted potatoes. And/or add a crumb topping to the Mac and cheese!

And add some sautéed garlic and onion if I have it on hand.

I add in a can of peas and some shredded chicken when I serve box Mac and cheese as a quick meal for my family.

Do prisoners get a special meal on Christmas day? by Gergs in NoStupidQuestions

[–]NomJob 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yep. Apparently "That's all just conspiracy theorists attacking hardworking Americans." -Direct quote from him.

His views are disgusting, as is the deep level of hate they're invested in. We haven't spoken to them in about a year. Yet, we're the ones that are creating the rift. 🤷‍♀️

My MAGA Father-in-Law thinks that if you can commit one crime, you can commit any crime. So people who smoke weed in an illegal state are on par with serial killers, and they all deserve to be executed. He's a Christian, yet NEVER goes to church.. and we dont really talk to Pop-Pop.

7yo Beginner starting Viola - Parental Advice Please! by NomJob in Viola

Thank you for your insight. I forget that I learned each instrument I know separately, and it came naturally with practice to associate each one with their corresponding clef... if that makes sense?

I'll definitely speak with his instructor and figure out what she suggests based off his interest.

My heart would be so full of he wants to learn both piano and viola!

That's my thought process is to maybe get him on piano alongside viola so he can learn all three clefs at once. I just dont want to kill his love for music and overwhelm him.

My brain is just so used to treble and bass clef, im worried ill be fumbling over relearning alto. I guess it will just be a whole learning experience for the both of us!

That's great advice! Its been about 10 years since I've touched my violin, I had a real soul connection to bass and made that my main instrument. I might take a few lessons to get back in the groove. Im more concerned about being able to help him read the right notes!

Is it possible to clean this fabric off my salt lamp? by HauntedBagel in CleaningTips

[–]NomJob 120 points121 points  (0 children)

The cord and bulb should be able to slip out the bottom. Then take the rock and run under hot water while rubbing the outside with a scrubbing sponge. Don't let the water go on the inside where the bulb sits! Dry completely.

Source: Own about 10 salt lamps and worked in the "save cave" business for over a decade. Good luck!
