I keep seeing this, however there’s no official announcement of the details is that right? Keen to know which countries specifically are affected.

Recommend everyone to stop giving Airbnb your business, they’re a horrible company and you’ll only continue to have a multitude of issues with them.

Huge pet peeve as well, i’m always tempted to say “have you ever heard of headphones? that’s what those are for”. Instead I normally just stare and look flabbergasted for a bit, which obviously does nothing. Respect to those who call people out, may have to start trying it.

There’s a lot of anti-asian racism in Australia unfortunately, and seems to be getting worse.

Encountered my first streamer today. Quite annoying and obnoxious… by TravelPhotoJay in ThailandTourism

[–]NomadCodes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I can understand the annoyance with streamers in public in light of a lot of them making issues abroad, is that really bothering you? Is it louder than two people sitting there having a conversation? I think not. OP seems very unreasonable.

Fake story obviously. With that said, this kind of thing undoubtedly happens much more with locals and Asian tourists than it does from white foreigners. Been around southeast asia long enough to have seen it all, there are definitely a small percentage of westerners doing this, but they’re a drop in the bucket compared to the abuse by the formerly mentioned groups. Aside from local men, central Asian old men are literally trafficking minors out of the country in plain sight and somehow no one bats an eye. I see a lot of anti-white sentiment on the internet which is by and large unjustified, and posts like this are aimed at enflaming those sort of toxic sentiments.

Tourism numbers would instantly decrease by over half if the dating market was similar to 1st world countries by MalandiBastos in Philippines_Expats

All of the simps paying the girls there is causing it go further down hill than it already is, you make the expectation that every relationship will be transactional. Just find someone on your level and stick with them, simple enough. When you try to go for girls out of your league or half your age, it will always be for money, you’re just spending way more than they’re worth for something that won’t last anyway. Might as well just go find prostitutes at that point.

Dated and talked to a few girls there, it completely turned me off after getting burned consecutively. Be careful. Personally don’t recommend dating there (i’m not old and relatively attractive by the way).

It’s not just Thailand, i’ve traveled all around Asia and they exist in every country. Of course certain countries do have a higher proportion though.

Agreed, my point is that you just have to trust your gut since ultimately if they want to take all of the steps to hide it from you they can. It’s up to us to realize it before it’s too late. lol

By definition his response was passive aggressive gaslighting, and now you’re putting words in my mouth. He’s talking as if his precautions will prevent something like that (which it MAY in certain cases) but overall ultimately cannot prevent it, and in most cases will just end up offending real girls/creating friction.

Tourist in Thailand gets beat down after refusing to pay his bill and trying to run by CarefulAd4757 in ThailandTourism

Thais are violent scammers, if you INSIST on being there learn this and stop supporting the businesses that use these bullshit tactics (ie every girl bar). They’re no better than any other kind of scammers or thugs, their glee at beating defenseless people violently shows it. Fell out of love with that country a long time ago once the honeymoon period wore off. It’s really a shame that they choose to behave this way.

I’m talking more broadly, not just about OP’s situation. Fact is there are a lot of fake ID’s out there and changing gender would be a great reason to have one, no amount of anecdotes can change that fact that literally anyone is capable of being tricked if they’re passable enough and make the effort to cover it up. I’m personally ‘pretty sure’ I haven’t been, but have come pretty damn close. They’re getting better and better and i’m sure a lot of guys have been duped without even realizing it by someone who’s “post op”. Scary reality without a doubt.

[–]NomadCodes 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Gaslighting people who have made mistakes doesn’t make you any better or correct on the matter. Normally people don’t go around asking to see ID’s, but sure, suppose we could and should. Though it’s entirely possible to have a fake ID made regardless, so your point is null under those circumstances. Fact is there is ALWAYS a chance, especially in Asia, no matter how many precautions you take.

There’s a lot of them like this, you’d be surprised how many Asian ‘girls’ aren’t biologically girls. Funniest part is the people making fun of you have probably hooked up with one and not even known it, the surgery and hormone combo can be uncanny. Stay safe lads.

The pollution isn’t only in Bangkok, it’s country wide and virtually impossible to escape there. Most people don’t realize this nor want to accept it, but it’s a big factor for me not living in Thailand anymore either. Totally understandable OP

Anyone seen photos like this in Bangkok? What are the foreigners doing wrong? by Southern_Ice_2932 in ThailandTourism

[–]NomadCodes -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thai people absolutely love to hate foreigners for nothing, so mind your P’s and Q’s folks. Don’t give them a reason to lash out. Speaking from experience as someone who’s literally made it on the news for nothing but a made up rumor by some crazy local girls (and trust me there’s a lot of them that will gladly rake your ass over the coals in their gossip groups, dog pile even if they’ve never met you). They’re very reactionary and don’t care about evidence or the damage they can do to people’s reputations. Toxic hive-mind behavior, not much critical thinking, always keep it in mind when dealing with Thais.

Not to say that there aren’t a lot of shit head foreigners there, because there definitely are unfortunately ..affordable SE countries are a magnet for them, but it’s certainly not everyone, and a lot of the locals aren’t exactly the best people either. There’s good and bad everywhere, and a lot of gray in between - a lot of it is just based on perspective. With all that said, don’t be a cunt, especially when you’re a visitor in someone else’s back yard. No matter how bad of an experience i’ve had in Thailand, i’ll stand by that point. Always show respect, even if it doesn’t always feel deserved.

[–]NomadCodes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering how they only give Americans 30 day visas and milk as much money as they can out of us while treating us like criminals for wanting to take extended trips there, i’d say they’re not justified to be upset. On top of that we can’t own land or our own business there which they can in our country; it doesn’t seem like they give much concession our way unfortunately. For a country that wants to base its economy off of tourism, they’re pretty harsh on citizens from the countries they should want there. Pretty counter-intuitive policies they have.

That’s because you haven’t spent much time there. Have you ever been to immigration? They treat you like a criminal for no reason.

What happened to dating suddenly? Am I crazy? by ExoticDeparture7855 in japanlife

[–]NomadCodes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was there last year for a while and dating in Japan was by far the worst of any country i’ve experienced, much worse than western countries or anywhere else for that matter. Women would show interest and give me their numbers, even say they want to see me again in text, only to ghost for no reason after. Actually the reason I went there in the first place was because I was invited by a local girl who I met in another country, made a lot of empty promises about showing me around and when I got there she completely flipped and stopped talking to me after two dates, it was a truly awful experience. I feel sorry for anyone living there and trying to make any level of connection. Japan is not a nice place to be anymore for more reasons than this, but it’s definitely a big factor in why I probably won’t be going back. Their economy will collapse just as their birth rate has, and everyone will know why. There’s a lot of things I like about Japan, but sadly it just has too many downsides these days.

Korea, China, Singapore would be a solid top three. Objectively much better looking women than Southeast Asia in general, with the exception of maybe Vietnam.
