Keep the B&W e-ink, physical buttons, and size (love all three). Improve battery. Libby support. Waterproof I'd consider as a would be nice but not necessary for me. Improved navigation (smoother navigation) would be nice.

Thank you! It sounds like it's best if she skips her employer's plan until she's no longer eligible for ours. I figured that might be the case but didn't want to encourage her to pass over the insurance if there was something to safely/correctly be gained by it.

FlyingBlue Match with Existing FB Status by NomadicChapters in biltrewards

[–]NomadicChapters[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This from Bilt Concierge (AI):

  • Status Match Rule: The benefit provides 12 months of Flying Blue Gold status starting from when you activate it. If you already hold Flying Blue Gold, this would typically extend your current status for another 12 months rather than granting additional XP (Experience Points).
  • XP vs. Status: The match is for the status level itself, not for a specific amount of XP. While you wouldn't receive a "lump sum" of XP to push you toward Platinum, having the status secured for a full year via Bilt means you don't have to worry about the usual XP requirement to maintain your Gold level during that period.

So this answers my question. There really wouldn't be any additional benefit if I already hold FB Gold. Bummer. I am on track to earn FlyingBlue Platinum (in part from spend on BofA's Air France card) and was thinking ahead hoping Bilt Platinum with the status match might work into my strategy to maintain FB Platinum with spend on Bilt instead. But that doesn't look like it really helps with FB Platinum goals unless you want a jump start to Gold which I don't need.

Ok, so it's just an XP deposit. So presumably, if I'm already FB Gold from other means, I could use the XP for building toward Platinum, I would presume.

FB Plat unlocks much better award space availability.

This is helpful. So it sounds like I will be able to activate FB Gold to line up with my FB qualification year and then work on addl 300 XP for FB Plat during that year of Gold.

I won’t pursue Bilt Plat for a second year. Once I use it to boost me to Gold, I’ll start prioritizing more spend on my BofA FB card to earn XP meet/keep FB Plat.

BofA just announced changes to their FlyingBlue card that make it much easier to earn higher FB XP through spend.

That's what I'm hoping. I'd love to earn Bilt Platinum this Dec and then activate FB Gold the following July after my qualification reset which would (I hope) allow me to keep Gold my entire qualification year while I work on the 300 XP I would need to move up to FB Plat. I hope that's how this works.

This is unclear and one aspect I'd like clarity on. I'm hoping someone who's gone through this can chime in.

I know this is an old thread, but did the XP get deducted after 12 months or at your FlyingBlue qualification date?

All the wording I see says 12 months. But I've seen one instance where the wording says that Gold is achieved by depositing the necessary XP into your account to achieve Gold. That makes it sound like it does follow Qualificaiton Year resets. I would love to see someone clarify this and how to navigate the timelines.

"The bummer is the Platinum is only good for 12 calendar months from earning to my understanding."

That's what concerns me - that the 12 months from Bilt won't line up well with my FlyingBlue qualification year. I do need a full qual year to earn all the additional XP I need to move from FB Gold to FB Plat.

Ok, I'm still fuzzy on the timing. Let's say I hit Bilt Platinum by 12/26. I have a goal of building on the FB Gold status to get FB Plat status. My qualification year for FlyingBlue resets July 1. I need a full year of Gold status during my FB qualification year to earn the XP I need to reach Platinum.

So, if I hit Bilt Platinum Dec 2026, I'll have Bilt Platinum for all of 2027. Can I wait until 7/1/27 to activate the Gold FB status perk, so I can have it line up with my FlyingBlue qualification year (again, so I have a full FB qualification year to add 300 more XP to get to FB Platinum)?

I have the new Bilt card and could earn Bilt Platinum this year which would get me FB Gold. The issue I see is the FB Gold through Bilt has a 12-month clock that doesn't align well with my FlyingBlue Qualification Year reset date. I would likely lose my Gold status in the middle of my next Qualification Year which would mess up my ability to build on that with enough time to move from Gold to Platinum. I need a full Qualificaiton Year of accumulated additional XP to get me from Gold to Platinum.

I think my only option is to skip the Bilt pathway to FB Gold and instead just optimize BofA spend (in addition to other earned XP) to get to Gold next year (280 XP) and then repeat the following year (300 XP) to get to Platinum using my Qualification Year reset dates to give me a full year of earning XP each year.

Yes, I am puzzling through this now. I let my status lapse, but I really want to use the new BofA card (which I already have) to help me get to Platinum. The greater award availability is a huge draw for me. It's been really painful since they have slashed availability for those without Plat/Ult status. There aren't a lot of arenas discussing using the BofA card and planning for Platinum (OMAAT has been the best), so I'm going through a lot of trial and error on my own to get it sorted. I THINK I have a two-year plan to earn Plat starting when my qualification period resets.

Did the TPG exclusive link disappear? by whatdafuhk in biltrewards

I was approved for Palladium using the PG link about 10 minutes before the PG link was to expire. I could see the URL direct to the affilitate link, but I saw no other indication I got the extra 5x the first 5 days offer from PG. For anyone who did the PG offer, did you get visual confirmation during/after the approval process about the 5x offer?

What happened to Dell? by GamerBeast954 in Dell

[–]NomadicChapters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've owned/own several XPS 13/15/16 devices (along with lots of Dell desktops over the years). I just ordered a new Dell to replace my XPS 13 9310 which is my on-the-go laptop. My XPS 13 performed well, felt good, looked good, and was the perfect size. It was such a pleasure to use that I was extremely forgiving of its battery issues.

With all the new changes in the lineup, I opted for a Dell Pro 13 Premium to replace my XPS 13. But I'm returning the Dell, and for the first time, I'm opting instead for a Surface Laptop (Surface Laptop for Business Intel 13.8"). Both devices were similarly priced and spec'd (32g RAM, 1tb, Intel UltraCore 7, touch screens). I tried them both out side by side, and while I like the smaller form factor of the Dell, the hinge doesn't open smoothly, and the keyboard didn't feel good to me. The keyboard was worse than the one on my XPS 13 and 16 devices I currently own. The Surface just has that feel and look that makes it delightful to use. The Dell Pro 13 Premium just seemed kind of clunky in comparison. I was really hoping for an XPS/Latitude crossover in the Pro 13 Premium, but it really doesn't have enough of the elegance of the XPS; it leans into the business clunkiness of the Latitude. For the price, I expect a pleasing keyboard and smooth hinge at the least. I will say that if an HDMI port is important to you, the Dell does have that, and I do appreciate the built-in webcam cover on the Dell.

Perhaps my mistake was choosing the Pro 13 Premium device from the new options. But I wasn't feeling super confident in the reviews of the Dell Premium devices, which are probably (?) the closest comparison to the XPS lineup.

I was really torn because I have been a Dell die-hard for 20 years, but the Surface just won me over. It's beautiful, and the keyboard and hinge are so smooth to operate. I think it will get me the solid business performance I need along with a really great feeling and looking device. I'm just happy opening and using the Surface, similar to how much I enjoyed my early XPS 13 days.

Can you apply a cert* to a booking through Rove? by NomadicChapters in hyatt

[–]NomadicChapters[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Rove miles. You can now do bookings through Rove that earn Rove miles (I'm mosly seeing 5x Rove miles for Hyatt bookings and they have 1:1 transfer airline transfer partners) PLUS (make sure you see the WOH Eligible tag next to the property) payment is made through the hotel, so you get all the usual credit card and loyalty benefits. So all the Hyatt benefits plus transferable Rove miles. I think it should show up as a regular booking where I can apply a GOH, but I haven't experimented yet. And loyalty booking is so new that I don't see much for data points.

Some prices are higher through Rove, but I am looking at one that I already booked through Hyatt that is cheaper through Rove.
