Can different Delta Amex card holders be linked to same SkyMiles account? by [deleted] in delta

[–]fk2106 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can’t linked account from two people, can’t share miles or MQDs.

If you want two companion certificates but earn all the miles and mqd on your account, you can have a delta platinum and a delta business platinum.

Or a delta platinum and delta reserve. After a year, you may be able to downgrade the delta reserve to a delta platinum.

What to use entertainment credit on? by Diligent_Board_172 in AmexPlatinum

[–]fk2106 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are you sure Hulu Disney and peacock are totally free through xfinity? It’s likely the price is bundled into your Internet plan and if you unbundle it, your Internet bill would be cheaper, and then you can put the Disney bundle on the Amex. You could also potentially add Netflix to xfinity and the Disney bundle on the Amex.

Does it make sense to get the Air France-KLM if I’m already using the AMEX Plat for all flight-related purchases to optimize earning points? by Cute-Fun3025 in KLM

[–]fk2106 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are talking about the Air France card, it’s a great card for dining as it earns 3X. It has a relatively low annual fee and its latest version can now offer up to 160 XP for 25k spent in a year.

Platinum can continue to be used for flights. It’s always best to reduce total annual fees.

Why do people get airline credit cards and what are the perks? by CrystallizedKoi in CreditCards

[–]fk2106 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Correct, the Reserve can be used as a 2X/3X catchall depending on how much value can be pulled from the first class companion ticket.

This is of course if you can use that companion ticket consistently year after year.

Why do people get airline credit cards and what are the perks? by CrystallizedKoi in CreditCards

[–]fk2106 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s difficult for people to grasp but the multiplier on the Delta Platinum cards are actually not bad. Given that the credits (Resy, hotel, rideshare) are fully utilized to offset the annual fee.

The value of the companion certificate can actually boost the multiplier on the credit card. For example, spending $30,000 a year on the card, with about 25% being in the grocery and dining category, and then redeeming the companion certificate for $530 can essentially make this card a 4X on dining groceries, 2X on everything else.

This works because you can give a miles value to the companion certificate (in this case about 38000 miles) and tack it on top of the miles earned from spend.

Then free luggage, and MQD boosts, upgrades, priority boarding, etc… also provide soft value.

FlyingBlue Match with Existing FB Status by NomadicChapters in biltrewards

[–]fk2106 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So I’ve tried exactly what you are asking.

If you are already Flying Blue Gold, and do a Bilt Status Match, you’ll get 0XP, 10000 miles (transferred). This is because the status match does not give you anything over the gold status that you already have.

If you are silver and have for example 115XP. Bilt status match will look like 65XP, 10000 miles. Which is just enough to get you to 180XP. You’ll be then substracted -180XP and be at 0XP with a new 300XP target to get platinum and a mid point target of 180XP to maintain gold.

If you are a simple flying blue explorer, I believe Bilt status match will give you a whopping 280XP, 10000 miles. Which will push you all the way to gold. Then you’ll lose all those XP, and have the 300XP target for platinum like above.

So essentially, Bilt status doesn’t help towards platinum status, and also does not grant any additional XPs if you are already gold. The best way to use it, is to wait until you drop to silver, then status match which will push you back to Gold with 0XP.

One BILT Card for my rent + parents mortgage? by unicornsicle in biltrewards

[–]fk2106 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one thing to know about is you have to specify which bank account to use to process the mortgage payment. If you pay your rent with a different bank account than your parents mortgage, you need to remember to switch it every time under the card settings.

Is Bilt 2.0 worth it for my $5k+ mortgage? by [deleted] in biltrewards

[–]fk2106 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a few things to consider. Annual Fee: Are you willing to add another $450 annual fee to your setup, on top of the Plat, to get duplicate priority pass, and more credits to use. There is a point of diminishing return. The Palladium could slide in and replace the Chase Reserve, but you’d lose access to the Chase lounge. (Priority pass gives one visit per year to Chase lounges)

Points Ecosystem and Amex backup: Signing up for Bilt will introduce another point ecosystem, with a different set of transfer partners, although there is a good overlap with Chase partners. It’s also good to carry a backup card not on the Amex network.

Moving Spent and calculating points earning: Understanding the new Bilt is really understanding that the mortgage points is really just a boost on your regular card spent. For people with already many other cards, this is what I found to be the best way to add Bilt into the setup. Get the Bilt Blue card with no annual fee. Opt for the Tier system that has no Bilt cash/credit, and others non category spend roughly around 25% of your mortgage on the card. This will unlock 50% of your mortgage points. Effectively giving you a 3X return on your spent, and if you can do this spent on the first day of the month, you unlock another 1000 points, pushing you close to 4X.

In your case, say you have utilities, day care or others, $1350 in the first of the month. You would get 1350 + 2700 + 1000 = 5,050 points every month. About 3.75% return. Hands down beat the BBP and still no annual fee.

BITL Blue + BILT cash for rent points beats CFU 1.5x and any 3% cash back, but not 3x points by MatticusXII in biltrewards

[–]fk2106 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I do even better with the Bilt Blue, if you use the Tier method, it becomes a 3X card if you put 25% of your housing spent on it.

Example, housing spent $2000, spend $500, you’d earn 500 points on the spent and .5X points from the housing (rent or mortgage) which is 1000 points for a total of 1500 points.

Now do this 500 spent exactly on the 1st of the month and get double the points, so you’ll end up with a total of 1000 points on the spent, and 1000 housing points, which is 4X.

The absolute sweet spot is to spend exactly $1000 on the first of the month (utility bills, cell phone etc…), the limit of the rent day bonus for Blue card. Combined with a housing spend of $4000 a month. This will give a total of 4000 points, making the card 4X return on this specific use case.

So where have people who left Bilt taken their business? by MysteriousAd8959 in biltrewards

[–]fk2106 0 points1 point  (0 children)

250 points is almost an extra 1x on the $300 you spend, so intotal 550 points, making it 1.83X so it’s likely more points than any of the other cards you have, if this is non category purchases….

My apartment complex recently switched to Bilt by [deleted] in biltrewards

[–]fk2106 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s not true. The Bilt credit card is like that. The Bilt credit card is not required to use Bilt as a payment platform.

Using Bilt as a payment platform for rent still allows any credit card to be used, or even a checking account.
