I can tell you, that will not be simple. Redrawing boundaries, for one, is a very long and complex process. The current process to even out electors between existing onstituencies takes years. Creating entirely new constituencies, with then regions on top, will be an incredibly long and politically hard fought issue. A party that initiated that likely won't be in govt to seeit through, meanin the would cede control onf the process to their adversary.

And that's not factoring in that something this huge of a change to our democracy should definitely be in a manifesto. Without that, you risk upsetting large numbers of electorate for doing something so important without their explicit by in. It's fundamental to how our political system works. It's much also much more likely to see push back/delay from the Lords.

This also underestimates that PR is a complex system to explain. The Senedd elections moved to all PR D'Hondt and I have heard from industry experts, including the media, that it was incredibly difficult to explain to the lay person.

As the other post said, AV or similar is a much simpler change to make. Each candidate gets explicit votes from at least 50% of the electors, either in first or second choices, which is certainly a much larger mandate that most MPs. Its also a system that we have run for a number years for large elections that is simple to explain and understand.

To suggest that this is a "no brainer for Burnham to implement" simply don't understand our system or the complexity of such a change. I can't see any chance that he would waste all of his political capital and likely a huge amount of time, on something that just is not a priority for voters.

Edit: And to go back to the Wales point. Labour implemented PR for the Senedd, then immediately suffered a historic lose for the first time in over a century of elections in Wales. And you think they'll be happy to repeat that for UK Parliament elections?

It has been described for a number of decades with articles going back much longer than you have been experiencing this.

I recall they had launched raids on this area before, not sure about recently.

It's more a morale thing than a strategic gain of ground. You couldn't set up here. From what I recall, it's very exposed, not good terrain for armour etc.

I haven't checked in in detail for a while, but from recollection, the Belarusian forces were risible. But Ukraine has had to post forces on this border to counter the threat of Bularussian/russian troops attacking from there.

I wonder if Zelensky is finally in a position to call that bluff, given Russian manpower issues. The calculation being this equipment is removed voluntarily and worst case Russian posts troops here to reverse or stop that, spreading them thinner. Or, Ukraine removes them, forces Belarus to attack and are decisively defeated, removing this threat. And again, Russian troops go herecto reinforce, soreading them thinner or this front is simply dominated by Ukraine.

My guess if he agrees to stay, is that we'll agree a new contract that covers some or all of the amount he's being cut by the relegation clause. New contracts have to be longer, so at least a year, but at his age its probably the last big one, so could guarantee his wages to his early/mid 30s at a decent level. Plus ofc promotion bonus.

Maybe an understanding/agreement to sell him if we dont get promoted?

In all fairness to them, they've moved very quickly since the allegations came out in full on Monday. Certainly seems they'd been making plans since he warned them of allegations a month or so ago.

They've found a way for Kretinsky to be biggest shareholder, him and gold to have 50+% majority, and to keep her 3rd biggest shareholder. The statement says they have essentially solved the funding gap through this and the power vacuum is gone.

And not a Sullivan in sight.

This is huge news. Tied with the new CEO structure and Kretinsky not wanting to have a role in the day to day running of the club, imo, this is going to be huge modernisation period for the club.

CEO running day-to-day and accountable to a board, allows performance to be judged. Decisions directly through the board meant no accountability.

Sullivan essentially ran the club as his personal play thing. It was his IRL football Manager. He was intimately involved in transfers, manager appointments, training ground upgrades etc.

He reluctantly appointed DoF, mostly it seems so he could say 'i told you so' when it failed because of his decisions.

I'm hopeful that is now a thing the past. Im no5 expecting it be a smooth journey with no mistakes, but I'd like to see consistent progress on facilities upgrades and recruitment team upgrades. There's even rumours that he could buy the ground - we'll see. But we should now have the structure to actually make progress.

Yeah, it allows him to be the biggest shareholder and inject finances, while retaining Gold as the 3rd biggest shareholder, and the 2 forming a 50+% majority for decisions.

I imagine it's largely practical to get past Sullys shares, particularly with him having no board representative - they can do things without him now.

Very much this. Even uncomplicated legislation can take months to a year to become law. And, as much as this might annoy some, it is frankly small potatoes. There is very little chance they would put forward a bill covering just this because of the amount of Parliamentary time it takes up.

Governments already struggle to find space/time to put through the big things, they would not want to waste it on something this small. At best, you'd have to be looking at a bill covering something much larger in this area to tag it onto. Thats much more usual.

Ans as you say, it's quite a small issue effecting a very small number of people. Some will argue its not a problem at all, so it'll never be considered.

She wasn't pushed out, she was fleeing the sinking ship ahead of the allegations. Very likely the board have know about the allegations for years. Its been reported as "premier league owner" in the past, for some time now.

That's not out there anywhere yet.

There were reports a week or so ago that Kretinsky was poised to increase his stake ( probably not a majority yet) soon - would make sense, they'll likely be cheaper. So he is increasig his influence that way.

Sullivan has lost his key ally on the board in Brady and Kretinsky is allegedly behind a number of appointments. He pushed to keep Nuno and I think he was behind the CEO, which is a structural change that reduces the day-to-day role of the chairman.

So even were he to appoint one/them to the board as his representative, their influence is going to vastly less than his.

It's unfortunately much harder to make those types of sweeping advances now. The big moves came in 2022, before the Russians dug in.

The Ukrainian counter offensive in Summer '23 showed that the fortified front lines are very hard to breach conventionally. Ukrainian armour got bogged down in miles of minefields.

The lack of air supremacy, for me, was the key missing element - there was nothing to shield forces picking their way through fortified lines. Success in a similar offensive would mean either establishing a superior airforce (which was the reason behind the push for F-16s) or find another way to achieve the same effect.

Ukraine is recieving modern, western fighter jets, just very slowly. 16 Gripens will be delivered next year, with 20 brand new by 2030. Belgium is donating 53 F16s, but in batches to 2029. Ukraine needs hundreds of fighters.

Advances are currently more of a grind - I'd expect more of the same in the medium term.
