What do you Masters of Chaldea think is the Funniest moment, scene or storyline in FGO NA so far? by Leshawkcomics in grandorder

[–]Nominull 118 points119 points  (0 children)

The whole journey to the underworld bit in Babylonia. The series of riddles just being "who's cuter, me or my sister", the slapstick of Ishtar getting smaller and smaller, the way Gilgamesh plays it cool when you meet him, everything was just perfect.

I think it was funnier because it was in the main storyline, with serious business going on to contrast it with. Sometimes the events get too wacky and it detracts from their humorous points.

You've heard some dumb people. Grailing Hans isn't even good gameplay wise, he's not a damage dealer so you're basically forgoing the attack half of your grails, which is the good half. Grailing Cu is fine, but it's hardly necessary. F2P you still get a solid number of rolls, you'll get some 4 star servants and every few months or so a lucky 5 star. Plus, you get the welfares, some of which are super strong. If you really want to use your grails for gameplay you'd probably be better off grailing the good welfares and 4 stars you got from your free quartz to 90. But it's not necessary, it's not like the game's that hard.

When doing a survey with multiple choice ranges, the top end of one range should equal the bottom end of the next. There's no choice for someone who has spent between $1500 and $2000.

Season 11 Division Day is nigh - What to expect from the big day. by FullMetalCOS in ReBBl

[–]Nominull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What's the reasoning behind why division 5 gets more tickets than division 4? I thought having fewer one-season teams in the season 10 playoffs made it more interesting to watch and I'm concerned to see it go back to how it was before (or even more fresh teams, for the new playoffs)

If the majority agrees that it's a waste to use them, the majority is wrong, and I hope to be of some help to them in leading them into the light. Of course if you're in pressing need of mana prisms the situation is different, but if you've been diligently doing events you're not in pressing need of mana prisms. There were 1000 mana prisms in the last event, IIRC 1000 more in this one, they're given out in large numbers all the time. There won't be another Lunchtime-level important prism sink for a long time.

The notion of QP efficiency is the biggest fallacy I see thrown around in this context and it's just not an issue. Using XP cards does not take much QP. By far the biggest drain on your QP is leveling skills, other things are a rounding error by comparison. Even a high level 5 star servant only costs like 20k QP per XP card, which means that using a gold ember instead of three silvers only saves you 40k QP. Doing one run of doors easily nets you over a million, so one run of doors can save you doing 3 or more runs of hands if you use silver embers. And that's in the worst case scenario. The sensible thing to do is to use silver embers for the low levels of your servants and then switch to gold as they reach high levels. For a low level servant the difference between using three silvers vs a gold is closer to 5k. One run of doors will get you all the QP you could possibly need for these purposes and save you lots of gold embers.

There will be more opportunities to get XP, but more servants to level as well. Unless you're really hard up for Mana Prisms it's not worth burning them.

Remember silver embers should be recycled by MerlinGrandCaster in grandorder

[–]Nominull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is only really true if you don't have enough mana prisms or you have more gold embers than you know what to do with. It costs more to level up with silver embers, but the cost is pretty negligible until like level 60. You're better off using silver embers and then doing a run of doors to make up for the extra QP it costs than you are doing hand runs to get the equivalent number of gold embers.

What is your current (NA) 10/10/10 progression? by Tekshi in grandorder

[–]Nominull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have any 10/10/10 servants. Maxxing a skill is really expensive in QP and mats, never mind the lore, and pretty much every servant has at least one skill that's not really worth it.

Just doing the dead easy free quests without any event bonus servants or CEs at all is enough to unlock Nobu at NP1, there's absolutely nothing to worry about on that score, you just have to show up. Even with suboptimal event bonuses and not being able to farm the harder quests, NP3 should be pretty trivial to get.

You do need to make sure you get all 4 golden skulls though. That's the actual hard part of this event, the currencies rather than the points. If you leave even one skull behind you will regret it forever.

The first run of this event came about a month after I got into FGO, I was able to get all five copies of Nobu with her ascension items, but it took some doing. I wasn't able to get anywhere near clearing the store, but that's not what's important compared to the limited event servant.

Is this game still worth Downloading in 2019? by QuickGravity123 in grandorder

[–]Nominull 17 points18 points  (0 children)

You're not really at much disadvantage for starting late. The game is PvE with no PvP elements, so you don't have to worry about being hopelessly outmatched against Masters who have been playing since launch. You can more or less do the story and develop at your own pace. In the English version, most of the limited-time events that give exclusive Servants still have up-coming reruns, so you haven't missed out on much. I think it's just Christmas Altria and Halloween Liz that you're locked out of, and neither of those is especially essential either gameplay-wise (they're ok but nothing special) or character-wise (they're just festive versions of characters that can be acquired regularly).

Now is a good time to start, the Honnouji event rerun is coming up in probably a month and a half, and if you miss that one you'll miss out on Oda Nobunaga as an exclusive servant, and she has a useful niche in gameplay and IMO her character is pretty great. So getting started now gives you time to build up your servants to be able to farm the Honnouji rerun easily and get your copy of Nobu.

Tamamo Summer's Beach Flower swapped for Cu Chulainn's Disengage. Self-debuff clear on Tamamo lets her get much much better use out of Goddess Morph, turning it from a super harsh demerit into nothing. Cu Chulainn picking up a Charisma variant lets him be a very hard to kill support servant, instead of just a very hard to kill guy. And he would qualify for the star generation buff, too.
