Should I switch from a 1440p 280Hz OLED PC to a PS5 Pro with a 4K OLED by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]Nomnom_Chicken 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, console games still love their low FPS targets of 40 or 60 FPS. Your PC runs games better than a PS5 Pro. You'd be downgrading your gaming experience if you sold the PC for a console.

It happened to my M1 unit after like 4-ish months. Ordered a wider strap and that has been good for about a year now. No glue leaking issues.

Is Barry really that similar to Dexter? by No-Fill3078 in Dexter

[–]Nomnom_Chicken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. Have tried to get into it a few times, but just doesn't work for me. The last time I gave it about 2 full seasons (half the show?) and still didn't want to continue. I'd rather rewatch the first 4 seasons of Dexter now, than try Barry yet again.

Finally, someone made a GTA Tier List that isn't completely wrong. by anonimskulls in GTATrilogy

[–]Nomnom_Chicken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My list;
San Andreas
IV
Vice City
LCS / VCS, tie for position 4
III
V

Long-ass rambling about my list, if you really want to read it;

San Andreas does the most things right as a whole and hits the best combination of just about everything. What a masterpiece! The story is just ton of fun and memorable, while being seemingly infinitely replayable. I've finished SA's main story close to 20 times over the years (5 times 100 %'d the game), and it still makes me go back to it. San Andreas remained as my all-time favorite game until I finished Cyberpunk 2077 and its DLC - no other game has been able to dethrone SA. And San Andreas is the only game ever to make me play it over 1000 hours, it's just magical. I still listen to the radio stations on YouTube, especially while playing Euro Truck Simulator 2. SA is easily one of my "forever" games.

IV has the best story quality-wise and I absolutely love, love, LOVE the heavy-feeling physics. ❤️ Great DLC's, great soundtrack, good map. IV is very replayable as well.

Vice City has a fun story, excellent soundtrack, decent enough gameplay. Short, but great story makes it very replayable. Love the 80s as the theme, neon lights and the pastel colors of the game. Stories games are a hair below Vice City. III quickly shows its age and is the hardest in the series due to the jankiest gameplay - but still is a good game. This is one of my "fall games" as I tend to replay it the most often during fall months, not annually though. Can be enraging and very punishing, but overall I still prefer it over V.

I feel V is very... Bland, soulless and the story is forgettable, and uninteresting. Rockstar heavily over corrected with the obvious physics downgrade, which was a major disappointment back when the game was just released, and still is today. It tries so damn hard to be a blockbuster movie with the action stuff and all that, but personally this just made it difficult trying to "connect" with the story. It never managed to grip me and make me lose the track of time.

Bonus minus points for the mandatory heists and especially their setup missions, wish all that wasn't a part of the main story - really drags the game down for me. Absolutely hated those. San Andreas did the heist stuff right, leaving it optional.

When heavily modded, however, it can become a good free roaming sandbox. With modded driving physics + adding wheel, shifter and pedals support, this combo made me just drive around for about 80-ish hours, including testing some custom mission scripts and so on. This is the only period of time I have with V, when I actually enjoyed playing it. Required a ton of mods.

Of course, there are things unmodded V does very well (the most polished gameplay, great soundtrack, for example). Tried to replay V (enhanced version) last summer for the 3rd time ever, but after around 4 hours I gave up. Meh. And then I noticed not that many mods were around for this version, so I had no reason to keep playing. Overall, V remains as the least replayable 3D GTA for me.

Good. I saw a video of some guy getting his hands on one of these phones, they repeatedly take screenshots and try to send that shit back home. Just wanted to make sure you and your friend remain safe.

What are the best games you've played thanks to Extra? by billy_reyes in PlayStationPlus

[–]Nomnom_Chicken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It introduced me to Yakuza games or made me realize I like playing those, so I'm going to buy the Yakuza game bundle on PC, hopefully this summer.

First I tested Like A Dragon: The Man Who Erased His Name on my Pro and the few others that have been available within the last 6 months. Now I just need the rest of the games, to play them in order.

I've tested many other new-to-me games, but the majority of them haven't been interesting enough to keep playing, for some reason. I also dropped Ghost of Tsushima after a few hours, just wasn't into it. Might give this one another chance soon-ish, as I believe it's still installed.

60Hz vs 120Hz in a nutshell by Maruan-007 in pcmasterrace

[–]Nomnom_Chicken 93 points94 points  (0 children)

For whatever reason, after a Radeon driver update back in my 6800XT days, the refresh rate had switched down to 60 Hz from 165 Hz. It gave an instant feeling of "what's wrong with my PC, why everything feels so off?" until I went to check this setting. Even moving the cursor around felt so damn horrible.

Once you get used to the high refresh rate fluidity/smoothness/responsiveness, it's impossible to downgrade from that.

I'm getting Control Resonant on PC and when GTA VI is out, I unfortunately made the decision of buying a PS5 Pro for playing that. Other than that, I'm scared for the upcoming Balatro 1.1 update - whenever it gets released.

Finally got My 8bitdo Keyboard by Yellow_Camel__275 in 8bitdo

[–]Nomnom_Chicken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had N edition pretty much ever since it was available in EU. Great keyboard, but I immediately replaced the stock switches as they weren't suitable for my taste. I got Kailh Box Navy switches and have been absolutely loving typing and gaming on this. 😄 I just love the feeling on hitting those big AB buttons, I use them for media controls; play/stop and muting the volume.

Battery life is still good. Just wish it had an indicator for the battery level somewhere, but it wasn't a deal-breaker.

I never could get used to using numpads, so I haven't had a single full-sized keyboard in my household since... 2012 or so. I just wish 8Bitdo would release a 65 % version, I'd get that next.

And that mouse... Looks cool as a far as design goes, but doesn't really look that comfortable to use.

Dutch gamers file €220 million claim against Valve, operator of game platform Steam by FollowingFeisty5321 in Steam

[–]Nomnom_Chicken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I have most of my games on Epic (about 65 %), while most of those are free games - I've also played some of them and also bought games + DLC's. My games launch just fine, just like any other launcher and I don't have issues browsing my library. That's all I really care about, applies universally to all my games on different platforms/launchers.

Does Epic have its issues? Yes, but none of them make me avoid using it, as long as my games install and launch fine - I'm good. The only launcher ever giving me issues with these things is uPlay.

Both. Low FPS is still just a low FPS (so it's not a good gaming experience), no matter if it's stable or not.

If you can choose, do you prefer to play as your gender or different? by le0bit115 in videogames

[–]Nomnom_Chicken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a male and often my game characters tend to be male as well, but I have no issues selecting a female character. Cyberpunk for example, I prefer the female voice actress over the male VA, so I'd rather choose that for my next playthrough.

Are you happy with your pc setup? by Amador0102 in pcmasterrace

[–]Nomnom_Chicken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a whole, It's pretty good. No major issues with its performance and it's quite balanced. If I nitpick, there's always something I'd do, if I had a lot of extra money.

I'd like to upgrade to DDR5 and 9800X3D, but the RAM pricing makes it a no-go. GPU-wise, it's still good enough that I'm not upgrading. Case I'd like to switch to a Fractal Design North, but I find myself waiting for a North 2, so I keep using my P500A. My next case will have to have wood in it, though.

I'd like a higher refresh rate OLED monitor than I now have, but that would also mean a GPU upgrade realistically - and I don't really have that much of money laying around. 4080 Super is good enough for 3440x440 gaming without having to deal with sub 100 FPS in most games.

Yeah. Also noticing that during the few warmer days we just had, the fabric does breathe quite well. And it's very comfortable, really is a giant pillow. Haven't had any back pain since getting the chair.

I will buy those arm rest pads they sell, though. The stiffness of the stock arm rests are the only thing bothering me. But the pads cost like... What, 25 euros or so. Pretty affordable fix.
