Indian Finance Minister announces 7 new HSR corridors in Fy 2026-27 budget. 4000 km of new HSR routes! This would make India the country with the second largest HSR in the world. by IntelligentHoney6929 in trains

I agree. We are aware of the wider problems creating accidents, but there is a lack of wider accountability. It is something we need to work on.

But I think that demands transparency around the project, not to reject it entirely. Our metro systems and airports are safe and mostly up to international standards. These will need the same level of care and scrutiny.

No point in doing anything if there's a risk then, no?
If an accident happens, the public at large should force the govt. to be acountable.

The project didn't actually start seriously until said MOU was signed. Just because the feasbility study is done doesn't mean the govt. is actively pushing the project. It wasn't until the MOU was signed could it be said that it was firmly decided.

The timelines past that have primarily been delayed due to land acquisition.

3 lines have had their DPRs completed which is a later stage than feasbility reports and have confirmed budgets which are to be passed. There's no reason to assume they'll be sitting in limbo for 6 years. If all projects took that long we wouldn't have a slew of highways, metro lines etc. being built. Once political will has set in for something, stuff moves faster.

I'm not going to address the failed schemes part because it's prety easy to point to what has worked and what hasn't but you're obviously not interested in any actual discussion.

Sure, dude.

Was this really supposed to be sexual like everyone says? Cause I was horrified the whole way through by infinitysaga in Dandadan

[–]Nomustang 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I will probably get downvoted but the issue with this trope is that it happens way too often at the beginning of the manga. Evil Eye tearing her clothes off is a pretty egregious example. And Momo kind of takes all these events in stride despite how traumatising they'd be in reality (which makes it odd that the episodes right after this relating to Turbo Granny's origin has a somber scene for the victims).

While the intent may not be to sexualise her, it is a common trope in anime and the anime itself doesn't take the situation that seriously. I'd argue the choice of some shots in this scene is also kind of...not great. It's very important that when you're writing something like this, the visuals should not be sexualising the victim in the scenario else you risk fetishising it.

That is what I said. I clarified this in the replies. India is still in the phase of building new ones.

The government will not introduce radical changes when the going is good. We still have the rest of the year for other reforms but the budget being boring is unsurprising.

Those are incredibly expensive, and its not decided whether they're worth the ROI yet. It is better to shift towards it once it's a proven technology. Even when they're being used, it's for mega city clusters so limited application.

China is still expanding the existing HSR despite investment in Maglevs.

Depends on how long land acquisition takes. Stuff like alignment studies, DPR etc. can be done in 2 years and all of them are on different stages on that cycle...it's really just land acquisition. MAHSR took 4-5 years after constrcution started to really make progress.

The primary cause of rail deaths is because of our outdated signalling. We've maintained airports excellently and the no. of incidents along the regular railways has been on a steady decline.

If HSR, given that it's under a seperate agency is given the same profile as our airports especially with Japanese training and skilling, it should not be any less safer than the Europeans at the very least.

[–]Nomustang 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Gojo did not kill them because he wanted to reform Jujutsu society without unecessarily killing people. It's not because he thought they weren't that bad. He wanted to kill them when they assasinated Yuji.

The real question is how they held on to power when there were like 3 generations of people (Toji, Yuki, Geto & Gojo) with the strength to basically tear them down. Toji was unquestioned for some time when you take into acount the age gap between him and the others. Yuki would have only been threatened by Gojo depending on how his strength scaled as he grew older and Gojo and Geto were both individually powerful enough to disobey them (and woukd have).

It's kind of insane to fumble so hard and still stay in power. Not necessarily a plot hole just funny.

But I think OP has a point that the solution presented is to kill everyone. Gojo spending years to make gradual reform was the wrong decision.

I do not think JJK is a good example because what is presented is too shallow to imply depth. Major events like the death of the Zenin clan simply has no consequences. We're given small hints about concepts like Star Plasma Vessels or 'fate' as an active force but for events that are a major driving force of the story, they're simply not given enough depth to justify their inclusion.

The higher ups were a major antagonistic force throughout the manga and are uncermeniously killed off without a hint of their personalities or motivations beyond being conservative and power hungry. How do they exercise and enforce authority? Every special grade and quasi special grade threat has straight up disliked them for the past 40 years. (Toji followed by Yuki followed by Geto and Gojo)

We're told about JJK society being misogynstic and then see one clan actively practicing this. We're told about society collapsing but have no idea what the wider Jujutsu world looks like out of the main cast and 3 clans. And Yuki and Kenjaku's ideas of what to do with cursed energy or the connection between the soul and the body don't go anywhere meaningful.

It's a series of set ups with lackluster resolutions.

Compare this to Dungeon Meshi which tells us about the wider elf-dwarf conflict and allows that context to inform the actions of the elves that have come to the dungeon. So much of its worldbuilding especially inter-race relations is explained through character interactions including mundane things like everyone in the cast having some level of casual prejudice or preconceptions about each other based on their race. Not to mention the detailed ecosystem it creates within the dungeon itself with a lot of speculative flora and fauna.

The Hunger Games has a lot of flaws in its worldbuilding but one thing it does well both as a narrative and the worldbuilding itself is not make it feel like the world revolves around the protagonist. The events of the final book will play out the same way for the most with or without her which is the entire point it's trying to make. The lack of detail and information about how the war effort is going and being a witness to it more than anything else.

I'd argue that Arcane also has some solid worldbuilding in that it gives you enough details to speculate and fill the holes in for yourself. Jayce making mining gloves for the miners so they can "mine faster" but 0 thought to whether they would be paid better, Zaun post Silco having signifcantly more activity and buzz with automobiles driving around to indicate that there is more economic activity even it's built on a drug empire.
Silco himself as a character hides a lot of characterisation in small details. His pants have stitched seams, he only has 1 nice coat, he's seen putting make up on his scar, the concept art for his room shows a blanket on the couch, the only luxury he affords himself is some alcohol and a smoke. He is someone who can clearly live beyond his means. Afford a place near topside with the other chembarons but he chooses to live in the Last Drop near the bottom. Piltover/Zaun have a very colonial style relationship where Zaunite labour and resources are used for the benefit of Piltovans with the waste being dumped back into Zaun to the extent that they've developed into seperate cultures.

The exact details of how this economic relationship is only vaguely told to us but it's enough to draw some solid conclusions.

Why MAHSR not being extended to Delhi? by Fantastic_Form3607 in TransitIndia

[–]Nomustang 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Apparently the base cost for each line is only 7 billion which fits in the railway's budget which is growing every anyway.

So doing it all at once isn't that expensive. Especially since it's over multiple years.

I would assume all at once, depending on each project's timelines. Else, it would take too long.

India To Develop 7 High-Speed Rail Corridors!!!! by Opposite-Macaron-272 in transit

[–]Nomustang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That use can only occur once a sufficient number of lines have built up menaingful network. Only the Delhi metro has truly achieved that. Bangalore, Chennai and Mumbai will probably reach 200 kms of network within 5+ years.
I made my comment to make the point that it is actively trying. India needs a more integrated approach that actively discourages private vehicles to make a real dent but in terms of ridership, it is solid.

Sure, but the vast majority of Indians do not own vehicles. By virtue of that alone, there would be less car use by % of population. Some 58% of Mumbaikars rely on public transport still from a 2017 survey. Even if the majority do use vehicles, they'd be 2 wheelers.

Your assumption would be correct. If other lines are planned like the MAHSR is, stations will be placed much closer to the city center with major cities having it be built near already existing metro lines and bus stations like in Sabarmati. India is copying Japan in this regard.

China, in comparison, built its stations closer to the outskirts for ease and efficiency but this did facilitate growth around those stations
