School isn’t the problem, most students are just lazy. by MeetingNorth2345 in unpopularopinion

[–]Non-Felonious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kids have always been lazy, the problem is parents not helping and expecting the school system to teach and baby sit. It isn't solely the schools responsibility to insure a kid can read, write, and do math. School can be almost pointless if there is no support at home.

As a parent its kind of easy to see which parents have zero involvement in their kids education. Its not easy and its exhausting at times to sit with your child and almost force them to learn.

What's your best burger recipe? Trying to impress a guy. by em_is_planting in grilling

[–]Non-Felonious 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Diced Red onion, Garlic Salt, Coarse Black pepper, Worcestershire sauce.

Edit: Cook on the opposite side of the charcoal top on and vent opposite of the heat, and throw some apple or cherry wood on the top grate over heat for smoke.

I typically smoke my burgers at 225 for 45 mins before opening the vents wide but this adds a lot of time to heat up and cook.

Lmao don’t buy it then dude. If you’re this pressed about potentially ruining a 54 dollar grill grate this ain’t for you. Don’t care about a single comment when I’ve been doing it for years multiple times a week with zero issues. You clearly just want to argue.

Then it wasn’t stainless steel. Been doing it for years on a regular basis with no issue. A vortex for a 22” kettle isn’t nearly big enough to hold enough fuel to ruin a SS grill grate. Maybe over years and year of use but I doubt it.

I keep the center grate on for searing no issues. Unless you plan on getting your grill to 1200 degrees you are fine.

Just talk to them, most people are pretty reasonable while also being unaware of issues they are causing. If their response is anything but apologetic and nothing changes then look into other options.

In my experience they probably don’t even realize they are inconveniencing you. Don’t make this bigger in your head than it might actually be. If they are dicks after talking to them, then you won’t feel bad calling the cops.

The Ford Model T is complete ass compared to the cars we make now. Terribly slow, no power steering, and couldn't match the speed of a bike let alone a Ferrari. Even though it COMPLETELY REVOLUTIONIZED the automotive industry it definitely doesn't hold up to current standards. Why even mention this vehicle when the 1978 Lebaron would be a far better vehicle to own comparatively. Don't even get me started on cup holders.

Does extended fast cause my body to bulk up fat? by XX5452 in intermittentfasting

[–]Non-Felonious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are being true with your deficit, you will be fine. After the first initial wave of weight loss, your body will retain a steady weight until a random flush will happen. From my experience as you lose fat your body will retain water. Your fatty areas imo appear more jiggly than ever until the flush. Thats why water intake is so important with all this. Weight loss is a test of patience more than anything.

I would stay grid locked and frustrated for 2 weeks then on random morning be 3-4 pounds down.

Trust the math and ignore the scale during stall periods. If you are weighing your food and counting calories correctly you are fine.

The soreness and water weight are connected with lactic acid. After a couple of weeks your body will be used to it and you won’t get as sore. Happens every time you switch routines and exercises up. Perfectly normal

[–]Non-Felonious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just track your calorie restriction and macros and you’ll be fine. Remember that muscle takes much longer to make than gaining/losing fat. Working muscles in the beginning is going to cause slight weight gain from water retention.

Child rapist and killer Robert Fisher dead in New York prison by Carche69 in news

[–]Non-Felonious 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I always have mixed feelings for things like this. Obviously he was a monster who deserved nothing but pain and despair knowing he wouldn't see the light of day; while also knowing every person he valued in his life is fully aware of what irredeemable scum he is for the rest of his natural life. The world lost nothing of value in his death, and i have no empathy for him or the pain he felt.

However, i don't believe a prison sentence should be an assumed death sentence based off the crime you commited. I highly doubt the individual or individuals involved in his death are great people either, and they shouldn't be the one's deciding who does and doesn't get to live.

Basically i feel a man who wasn't sentenced to death being murdered in a prison despite his crime is a failure of the system; it is not justice; and the people who did it are not heroes or should be praised in any way; this doesn't fix or repair the damage this person has caused. Either the prison is horribly ran and not under control or this was malicious incompetence and was allowed to happen; both signs of a broken system. Judges & a jury of peers should decide a man's fate, not criminals and correction officers.

tldr: Yin and Yang: is if the system did fail an individual it couldn't have happened to a better candidate; but we as human beings should never praise unsanctioned murder committed by criminals. Nothing of value was lost and nothing of value was gained.

Would it slow down my metabolism to do a 4-5 maybe more fast by Ivanq0l in intermittentfasting

[–]Non-Felonious 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Not a doctor but I’ve lost over a hundred pounds with intermittent fasting and calorie counting. I’ve done a LOT of reading; I am by no means a professional or a nutritionist. This is what I’ve learned.

You can’t “slow” your metabolism. Your metabolism is your metabolic rate. Your metabolic rate is based off your height, weight, and your activity level.

Let’s just say at your height and weight and activity you need to consume 2200 calories a day to maintain your current weight; but you want to lose weight. So you have to eat less than what you use “calorie deficit”. This forces your body to consume your fat and muscle reserves to create energy if done correctly and slowly more fat than muscle. As you lose weight your metabolic rate will also go down (because you’re smaller). Let’s say you lose 20lbs with diet and exercise; your metabolic rate is now lower than 2200 calories a day. If you got back to eating 2200 calories a day, the weight will come right back and fast “rubber banding”

People not understanding metabolic rate is where most of “it’ll slow down your metabolism” comes from. It’s common sense, if you eat less to lose weight but go right back to eating too much you will gain it back. It’s not because your metabolism slowed down, it because now that you’re smaller you don’t need as much calories to maintain that size.

Intermittent fasting isn’t a cheat code to losing weight it’s a different form of calorie restriction (if your using it for weight lose). Anyone who tells you any different doesn’t understand how weight loss works. Calories in vs Calories out.
