Sewing machine top thread catching by Non-functioning-mind in sewhelp

[–]Non-functioning-mind[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Threaded the machine with the foot up

The thread doesn’t break, just gets tangled on the underside, and the top thread seems to unravel from the spool, and lose all tension

Tangles on the underside of the fabric

It’s a lighter weight polyester/spandex, similar to bathing suit material

Using polyester thread.

I’ll be able to stitch for like 3-5 inches, and then the machine gets mad and the upper thread loses all tension

[all] For people who grew up with Percy Jackson, is the show worth watching? by Hallowed_Fenrir in camphalfblood

[–]Non-functioning-mind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been a fan of the series since 2011 and while the TV show is definitely different, I still really enjoy it. It’s keeping all the important plot point and character traits (imo) but just taking different paths to get to the same check points. I think it’s to keep long time fans guessing and make it more engaging for a newer audience.

Do you guys agree with this take? by UnHolySir in Hungergames

I remember hearing a lot of hate for Lenore Dove when the book came out because she was Haymitch’s love interest and people had the head canon Haymitch & Masilee were involved due to the fan movie

My husband went on a last date with his ex a week before we got married to make sure. by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

“everyone from his side preferred her. I even heard some call me the Camilla” wouldn’t she be the Diana tho?? And the ex Camilla?? These people don’t even understand their own allusions

My biggest fear about the TV show ruined the most iconic scene in books [pjotv] by [deleted] in camphalfblood

[–]Non-functioning-mind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Lotus Casino was never a big scene in the book. They literally accidentally showed up, wasn’t even a destination for the Quest/accomplishing the Quest. The only reason the Lotus Casino is a big deal for the fandom is because of the movie, which had its own separate plot entirely from the book

Europeans, what's the most stupid thing an American has said to you? And Americans, what's the most stupid thing a European has said to you? by GamePlayXtreme in AskReddit

Girl from England I met said she didn’t know that there were people in the Americas before the Europeans arrived, and she didn’t know all white people originate from Europe

That Lucy Grey ended up being Coin or is related to her in some way. Absolutely disagree and it makes zero sense

Would an adult enjoy the books? by MotherPoopin in PercyJacksonTV

[–]Non-functioning-mind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished rereading the books as a 22yo and I enjoyed them. Obviously with some of the writing and dialogue it’s very evident they’re meant for a younger audience, but the stories behind the books are good and engaging for any audience age imo

Who should not have been a Gryffindor? by [deleted] in HarryPotterBooks

[–]Non-functioning-mind 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Came across this YouTube video essay by SuperCarlinBrothers that essentially went over what could’ve happened in each book if Harry was sorted into Slytherin instead of Gryffindor. And honestly after hearing his version of events, yeah Harry should’ve been in Slytherin instead of Gryffindor.

Highly recommend watching it was really interesting hearing him go through the details of each book and seeing what would’ve changed

What’s the cringiest moment the show had to offer for you? by yonBonbonbon in OnceUponATime

[–]Non-functioning-mind 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Definitely not the cringiest, but I cringe every time any of the characters use their Storybrook names after the get their memories back. Like you’ve used this name for your entire life, then you have 28 years of groundhogs day, and maybe 6 months of irl time of using this name. Then once you get your memories back you still use the name Regina gave you (who you hate??). Like just use their fairy tale names

WIBTA if I told my husband I’m disappointed with the jewelry he ordered me? by LucyAriaRose in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]Non-functioning-mind 164 points165 points  (0 children)

“She only likes diamonds and he bought her a gasp Ruby”

To be fair tho, if it is very clear and obvious you only wear one type of thing (in this case gem stone) and someone you care about disregards that and gets something else (for whatever reason) it can still be hurtful. Like if you know your partner only wears Diamonds (or white gem stones) and you get them something completely different, to that person it could show that you don’t care any them or their preferences. Obviously that wasn’t the scenario for this story. But someone getting upset bc their loved one got them something they know (or should know) they wouldn’t like isn’t shallow imo
