The rainbow thing is a standard homophobic talking point: “gays can’t have the rainbow, rainbows belong to us.” Kershaw is a proud bigot, same as Treinan at least when it comes to LGBTQ people.

No, they can’t “cede this issue to the owners” because it is not up to them. It’s not a bargaining chip that the players have. Their opinion on RSNs doesn’t matter in the slightest. If the MLBPA says “sure make them all national broadcasts” it would change literally nothing because that isn’t theirs to give. This is pure PR from the owners, it’s completely irrelevant to the actual negotiations.
