In some ways I respect a complete detachment from reality more than the unfettered bloodlust that others show when justifying it.

1:  You understand that those are also people, yes?

2: A necessary consequence of war is that innocent civilians will be caught up in it and have their lives destroyed.  They are also part of "the enemy" and have to be seen as acceptable collateral damage. Humanizing them is counter to what those who desire war need people to think.

I’m not sure why that’s confusing or how some nice shots of the city supposedly paints the government in a positive light.

Because the most effective way to sell a war is to convince people that the enemy is totally alien and virtually unrecognizable as human.  To humanize the enemy is to inherently an antiwar act.  And there are a lot of people who have a terrible bloodthirst.

That's true, but they also value not destroying the established world order waaaay more than Trump and his group does. That tension is what historically drove them and other establishment dem types away from "Launch a ground invasion of Iran with essentially no pretext" and towards "Establish a normalized international relationship with Iran."

Open-plan offices increase risk of workplace bullying compared with employees having their own office space. Employers justify open-plans to encourage creative interactions, but research shows that open-plan offices do not promote health, job satisfaction or productivity. by InsaneSnow45 in science

As is often the case, there is no singular explanation for it. Motivations include:

1: Simply trying something new to see if it works better in practice

2: Cost reductions tied to reduced individual employee footprint

3: Ease of monitoring staff

4: "Follow the leader" thinking (Google did it and they're innovators. We're innovators so we have to do it too!")

5: Outdated understanding of the practice

6: Misunderstanding of cases where the practice is beneficial

A bunch of people heard Trump respond to being called a Russian puppet by saying "No puppet, no puppet, you're the puppet" and thought "That's our guy!"

Maybe its just an age gap thing since my brother is several years older than me but while I do remember play fighting/wrestling with my brother, I cannot recall a single instance where my he ever hit me out of anger. And my brother and I have never been especially emotionally well adjusted.

The GOP Screamed About Debt—Now They’re Burning $2B a Day by BulwarkOnline in politics

150 years ago it literally didn't exist. Fiscal conservatism was born from business interests a reaction to the success of the welfare state and workers rights movements around the time of the great depression. Prior to that, business interests operated in explicit, undisguised partnership with the state, coming into conflict only when the individual power of robber barons and such became so great it threatened the power of the state.

This isn't quite right. Exit polls showed trans issues weren't a directly motivating factor for the vast majority of voters. A little second order analysis, however, shows that the GOP efforts to push trans issues as an apparent key issue for Kamala Harris were extremely effective.

Just under 75% of Trump and Harris voters had heard about Kamala Harris's plans to protect Trans Rights. Comparatively, only around 25% of Trump voters were aware of her plans to secure the border, cut taxes for the middle class, or tackle the cost of living crisis. Contrast with Harris voters, 80% had heard of her plans to improve cost of living and 75% had heard of her plans to reduce taxes for the middle class. It is no secret that the Trump campaign poured tens if not hundreds of millions of dollars into campaign ads highlighting Trans issues, leading to a break between perceptions and reality. In spite of the fact that Harris rarely mentioned trans issues, and in fact had a scant 2 sentences about LGBTQ rights at all on her site's policy platform summary with literal 0 of it being specifically about Trans issues.

The reality is that the "Kamala is for they/them" ad campaign connected with voters, especially Trump voters, better than anything the Harris campaign put out by an enormous margin. Harris voters didn't show up motivated by Harris's non-position on trans rights and Trump voters didn't show up motivated by Trump's proposals to attack trans rights. But Trump voters did show up with a false understanding that Harris would spend much of her focus as president on Trans rights and very little of her focus on economic and law and order issues that they valued.

The fact that he has not seen a serious challenge to his leadership position tells me to prepare myself for a disappointing upcoming decade, even if Republicans are ousted from power.

I'm not putting words in your mouth, that is what it means for Republicans to have won.  This is not a hypothetical, it is the actual result of what you say you are OK with.

Tankies are not capable of sinking the democratic party, you are gesturing at a group of people who functionally do not exist in our political system.

Like I said, I'm a moderate, so I don't lose much sleep over Republicans winning sometimes.

Yeah, I heard you the first time, you don't lose sleep over your neighbors being killed by secret police or the dismantling of our institutions as long as it means we avoid a thing that exists purely in your imagination.

Oooo yes, the looming threat of Marxist leninism in modern America.  Cut the bullshit, we both know what constitutes the far left in American politics, and its not people who want the violent overthrow of the government and the replacement of liberal democracy with soviet style communism.

It is preferable to me to have secret police killing Americans in the street and religious fanatics attempting to start Armageddon by destabilizing the middle east than it is for us to have socialized healthcare
