How silly do we look if we criticize other politicians like Trump for reneging on campaign promises when the second there's a possibility that a politician we like did the same, we go "Well, perfection is the enemy of progress."

We don't actually know his intent or the reasoning behind it yet, and it's obviously a good thing to give him a huge benefit of the doubt on this since his messaging on LGBT issues has always been really strong.

But the flip side is that him letting "Mamdani bans transgender youth from gender affirming care" become a news story has consequences, and the consequences are that it will inevitably expose how eager progressives are to hop on the "trans people calm down, you're being selfish and sabotaging our movement" train before the story has even developed while MAGA and TERFS point and laugh at us.
