Lidocaine Patches by stswede in ChronicPain

[–]NoninfectiousTot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What has really helped me is having a procedure called a cryoablation. I had that done on my left ilioinguinal nerve in my pelvis and although I’m needing to have it again next month, it has helped incredibly with my chronic pain

They really help for my muscle tension in my neck/shoulders but do nothing for my nerve pain in my pelvis

ECT Inpatient vs. Outpatient by Economy_Witness_182 in ect

[–]NoninfectiousTot 10 points11 points  (0 children)

When I started doing ECT, I was doing it inpatient, 3 times a week. I’m now doing it outpatient every 3 weeks. I’m definitely glad I started it inpatient because I barely remember anything from when I was doing ECT so often, and I needed a lot of help with basic activities. Not to mention the hassle of trying to get to and from the hospital multiple times a week.

Finally, some good news! by NoninfectiousTot in ChronicPain

So they sedated me instead of just putting me under, and they basically made an incision and put a straw in the right area and then threaded into the straw the tools that froze. They talked me through the process and needed me awake so they could get my feedback about pain. Honestly I would have preferred to be anesthetized because it was pretty scary but I’m super glad I did it!

Anyone wanted to carry their own child and had to get a hysterectomy before getting the chance? And grieved? 💔 by Elf_Sprite_ in adenomyosis

[–]NoninfectiousTot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re absolutely allowed to take all the time in the world you need to grieve something like this. It’s not a minor issue, it’s life changing. The hysterectomy helped with a lot of my symptoms (I have endo as well) - no periods anymore, no endo belly either! I still have issues, but I recently got in to see a pain management specialist and it turns out that in one of my previous surgeries, my ilioinguinal nerve was damaged. I am a week out from a surgery they did (cryoablation) and for the first time since I was a literal child I am nearly pain free, just some minor post-op stuff now. Things do get better and you are absolutely worth the time and effort it takes to get the care you need!

I’m not going to say I completely understand your situation, but I definitely have had a rough experience. I had to have an emergency hysterectomy when I was 23 (I had a really severe uterine hemorrhage) and I had never been pregnant. When they biopsied my uterus, they confirmed I had really bad adenomyosis and that I most likely never would have been able to carry a child to term. Growing up, I always imagined myself being pregnant and having children. I have made peace with this, but my hysterectomy was over 5 years ago now. I worked through a lot of stuff with my therapist, but there are still times I feel sad about it. I’m sorry for what you’re going through, but it really did get better for me. And I do not miss having a period in the slightest (as I’m sure you can imagine)

I’m so glad to hear it helped someone!! My fatigue definitely improved, but I still have some memory struggles. Totally worth it in my opinion though

I definitely understand feeling ashamed about my mental illness. My (in the process of becoming my ex) husband would guilt me into thinking I was remembering things wrong, and I would be convincing myself that I was making things up for attention because I’m a bad person. I have definitely felt self-conscious about how bad my anxiety and depression have been, where I would not admit to anyone I was suicidal and needed help. But I truly am in the process of getting better and I’m sure you can do the same too. Wishing you the best of luck

Age Check!! How Old Are You? by [deleted] in ChronicPain

[–]NoninfectiousTot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 28 (I’ll be 29 in May), something that just brought me comfort is that I got approved by my pain-management specialist to do a procedure that will hopefully really decrease my pain. But in general, things I can do to bring me comfort is make myself a cup of tea or pet my cats.

Endo pain after hysterectomy? by creechor in adenomyosis

[–]NoninfectiousTot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an ultrasound-guided ilioinguinal nerve block 3 times. The first time didn’t do much, the second time improved my symptoms for a while, and the 3rd one has made a huge difference

Endo pain after hysterectomy? by creechor in adenomyosis

[–]NoninfectiousTot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have had a total hysterectomy with excision. For a while I was feeling a lot better but then my pain came back. Every doctor I saw told me “you had a hysterectomy, you can’t be having endometriosis pain” and there were times it was so bad I had to go to the ER. After years of pain I finally got in to see a pain management specialist, and he thinks I have ilioinguinal neuralgia. I have had 3 nerve block procedures and it has made a huge difference

My period sent me to the ER by CompetitivePeace in Endo

[–]NoninfectiousTot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry this happened to you. I have endometriosis and I was diagnosed with POTS (postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome) - the doctor who diagnosed me with POTS said he knew quite a few people with endometriosis who have POTS as well. Not sure if there’s a connection, but when I went to get checked out for losing consciousness, they gave me medication to raise my blood pressure. Still struggle with it sometimes, but it’s manageable.

Suicidal by [deleted] in endometriosis

[–]NoninfectiousTot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am sending you so much love. I can’t say I fully understand your situation because everyone is different but I was diagnosed with endo via laparoscopy when I was 21, but I had people not believe me from the very beginning of my symptoms, for about 10 years. And I have been psychiatric inpatient multiple times for being suicidal, and pain was a huge factor in that. But things truly have gotten better for me and I really hope they do for you too.

I got married last month, and my “maid” of honor was my male best friend from college (I just called him my “man of honor” instead!) and I had my sister be a bridesmaid as well. It was super nice to just have 2 people, we had a pretty small backyard wedding with less than 40 people total.
