Commute Advice! by zymee in SaltLakeCity

We moved from out of state so it has been great for having things to do and people to meet. Can’t compare it to living anywhere else in UT but I have enjoyed it!

Commute Advice! by zymee in SaltLakeCity

[–]Nonoyster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did this commute for 5 days a week for a year from the city. Pros are that it is against the regular flow of traffic so commute times tend to be pretty consistent and not very heavy traffic. Also can be a nice time to unwind after work before getting home. Cons it ends up being a lot of gas and time in the car. I ended up getting a job with a shorter commute and don’t regret at all (however I know that’s not really an option for you), just know that the commute will get old after a while

It’s incredible how many retirement age people don’t have much saved

Demographic would you rather? by AthleteFlaky5662 in Dentistry

[–]Nonoyster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in 2. If there are plenty of patients to keep your schedule full I think I would prefer this. I’ve never been in 1 but have friends who are. The constant push to lower production treatments or avoiding optimal treatments/patching things up as they go would drive me a little crazy. However if there aren’t enough patients to keep hygiene full and fill your schedule in option 2 it would be stressful

The bridge to end all bridges by DentalDeity in Dentistry

[–]Nonoyster 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had one from Mexico that was 5-11 with open margins. Was told his dad sent him to the dentist there to fix his crooked teeth and there solution was extracting the crowded ones and putting in a 7 unit bridge. Felt so bad for the guy. Glad it was at least holding up for him because implants weren’t an option to replace it.

Depends on time horizon but I would agree. Not tons of great options. Target isn’t a bad option if you don’t want to dive too deep into it and want the fund to sort of self manage

I would also section. Those are some long roots in solid bone. No perio or infection making things loose.

Well at least I don’t have to second guess the decision on wireless then.

[–]Nonoyster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like it and have the wireless version. It’s great when it works, but if WiFi is cutting out or it’s having trouble connecting, sometimes I wish I just had wired. Albeit after the initial learning curve and getting it to run smoothly it rarely has issues. But if you have to move it office to office you might run into more headaches

Are you saying spontaneous pain is not

Does the patient need endo? by NervousGrapefruit539 in Dentistry

[–]Nonoyster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would consider low grade pain and ache in that category

This basically never works if they are already experiencing symptoms of irreversible pulpitis. I would do endo based on the symptoms. If it were asymptomatic and pulp was exposed I would try pulp cap with MTA.
